we need those kind of platform to provide OTHT capability, P-8 may involved on directing and guiding the neptune missile to it's target.

Our CN235 MPA has link y attached on it though and several times during latgab act as otht guidance platform for the navy warships when launching their Missiles

I don't know if the Neptune command launch units already Got link Y or Link 16 system to provide continuous data exchange from either Global Hawk or Poseidon. Of course there is a long time absen of Neptune during the conflict, in which quite enough of time to install some new equipment and do some necessary debugging....

We talked a lot about Sejong class to fulfill the MoD aspiration towards having destroyers here. CMIIW, but Sejong actually has more VLS than Ticons.

Another thing is (always) the cost. Sejong will cost us close to $1 bil per ship. Second hand Ticons EDA would probably cost us $200-$300 mil (modernization cost). So we could probably get 3 second hand Ticons for 1 Sejong.

For USS Vicksburg the modernization is already on-going. It means faster delivery time as well.

I am once here to say, annual maintenance (including operation and such) cost of a single Ticonderoga (received as - is with full equipment and capabilities) could be well above maintenance cost of the total fleet TNI, at the moment.

Yet alone; the keeping the VLS cells filled, is something that even major European Navys struggle to do.

Personally imo, the best option for TNI AL surface combatants is ships in the range of 4500-6000 tons, with common CMS (Tacticos), 24-32 VLS (if no quadpack missile), 8-16 (If quadpack able) + 8 canister launched SSM.

Above that, I question if the navy could afford. Having so many VLS packed inside a ship a the size of Ticons meant if one got sunk, the navy lost a huge share missile magazine with the ship. Just like how the Black Sea fleet lost almost half their air defence magazine with the loss of Moskva.

Navy should find the right balance.

1.3 Bil better buy more OPV or frigate the size of 10514. it's like $220mil per ship. Or even better, stockpile munitions . A ship is only as good as the weapons it carried. Multiple instance where we have good ships but no missile like in the case of the Bung Tomo class.

Ticonderoga's are old, its loadout are not compatible with the navy arsenal, it's operating cost are even a worse headache.

Not to mention adopting Ticoderoga's meant we're adding more CMS type in the navy long list of CMS.

That's obvious to be fair.

Pretty sure the annual maintenance of the upcoming 6 FREMMS + 8 Mogamis + 2 Maestrale will cost us way above the TNI current total fleet as well.

Btw, since the MoD wish to get destroyers (plural) has been an open secret. Which option do you think suits TNI best?

Since the most popular option that's been discussed in this forum is Sejong, how do you see the Koreans ability to operate three of them?
