but since ships nowadays lego-alike structures, if PT PAL built some sort of consortium with private shipyard, they could make a lot of ship blocks at once, that could reduce production time ofcourse,

and i dont think they would do that, so, be super patient, recalling REM class frigates tooks almost more than 4 years, thats not so much we can do about it

I prefer to get the needed hardware in our hands when the deadline comes, rather than getting the MOU done when the deadline comes.

Ex : ... bla bla bla... 8 submarine by the year of 2024, but what we could achieve by the year 2024 is only the MOU, same goes for the frigate and jet.

Most of Indonesian know about the "rubber clock - ngaret" but to think that Ministry of Defense would pull one on us.

You know how that's can be happened in the first place? Just like several failed bids happened in period 2014-2019, there is no sense of urgency afterall

I hate to say this, but in time that new Hospital ship being launched the other converted-hospital ship directly put on duty, today Dr. Suharso are being deployed to Sulawesi.

We've pushed a lot by Chino, and yet we still need much much asset to field in humanitarian service.
Not to mention all aquisition projecr were being scheduled.

Oh mann,,, much complicated

Have you ever watched how those lego parts are combined? Talking about dozens of tons being fixated and welded, I suggest you to watch videos online to get a sense of it and you may see there are many reasons why those lego parts just wouldnt fit. Not even saying it can go wrong badly in a single shipyard and they keep redoing the same block for several times. (Happened twice, will not name the shipyard the ship was small)
Different shipyards, different tolerances, different techniques. It is not easy to achieve this unless all shipyards are working with similar equipments and subcontractors, and using state of art equipments and have got experience.
What makes sense is getting steel contruction done in a shipyard, piping cabling in another, installing sensors in a dedicated shipyard.
Even for this, it will be more efficient to do in a single shipyard for possible redoes at steel blocks while equipping.

This .... Finally someone who could understand on what a diference between a milimeter could do either a havoc or a success in the massive production scale .
To be honest tho' ... equipment was come in second . With an old hander we could tweak or work somerhing to an extent . It's the measurement standar tolerance that is really matter . And this what is we as an Indonesian are lacking in disciplines .
And nothing more agonizing than trying to fix something that weight tons in enclosed spaces and hanging over your head strapped only by a chains thread ...

A milimeter is easy to handle, to be honest i rarely worked on milimeter scale:)
Not just the measurement devices or technique, a low quality welding can induce warping, if the assembler shipyard doesn't know how it was welded they may not be able to treat.
A standardization is a must for such a compatible production, those shipyards should be able compatible in planning level to ensure blocks flow to the assembly at right order and right times.
We tend to take welding samples even when the employer, weather or the device have changed.

Come on bro .... You don't have to torture other that harshly could you ... 😁
For some even milimeter scales were a wall too tall to climb . Not every body as blessed as we do .

Yep , standardization was the key . And it never come cheap . Then again , without challenges and hardship you could never knows on how much capable really you were afterall . New technics and knowledges are coming and goes all part of daily activities and learning process .
The only thing eternal in our lines of works is changes after all .

Another Psuedo fregate ?
Without proper VLS capable SAM and proper radar/sonar. Its only on par with PKR, no significan defense capability, moreover standard La'fayette didnt put CIWS on board.

If they do offer La'fayette they should offer more like the Singkek has, efen Singkek boats are considered out of date today.

Am still go with IH or 30 FFM

Even both of them seem only be installed with. 16 vls, an ironical way.

If I recall correctly Babcock is involved in the IH project which mean it will be derivation of the Arrowhead 140 design rather than derivation of the original IH design. And also I recall it's already at preliminary contract (pls correct me if I'm mistaken regarding the contract here)

While for 30FFM I also recall it has very PaWaFuLl political push from both President Jokowi himself & mbok Banteng herself. I strongly doubt even our "Mahapatih" can divert / reject those two.

Aside from any political push or preferences from anyone, I personally really like the 30FFM concept. It's not only about the specs but also about sending a few clear messages.

By the way, isn't this the first "offensive" military products that Japan offers to any country? I know they have already sold or donated some patrol / coast guard ships as well as some radars to Philippines and to few other countries but not to such extent.
