I have serious doubt regarding the overall QC (Quality Control) of the end product.

Indonesian MLRS had taken shape, there Will be another step before verification for the complete system can be started in which if we are looking at Vampire and Astros had, they should have command and control vehicles, radar artillery finder and logistic vehicles at the minimum order. It would be better if they can including command vehicles for organic UAV as the recon and surveilance platform for the system.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Kepala Bidang Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Kabalitbang) Kementerian pertahanan ( Kemhan) Republik Indonesia (RI) Marsekal Muda (Marsda) Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) Julexi Tambayong mengatakan, Indonesia punya potensi untuk memproduksi senjata secara mandiri.

Hal tersebut, kata Marsda Julexi, terbukti lewat sejumlah jalinan kerja sama yang dilakukan antara Balitbang Kemhan dengan badan usaha milik negara (BUMN) dan badan usaha milik swasta (BUMS) terkait pengembangan alat utama sistem senjata TNI ( alutsista).

Tak hanya itu, kerja sama tersebut merupakan bagian dari triple helix yang mewakili pemerintah, akademisi, dan industri pertahanan.

“Ini merupakan langkah strategis bagi sistem pertahanan Indonesia dalam upaya mewujudkan kemandirian,” ujar Marsda Julexi dalam presentasi mengenai prototipe alutsista TNI terbaru kepada Kompas.com, di kantor Balitbang Kemhan, Jakarta, Senin (1/3/2021).

Adapun langkah ini sebagai komitmen Kemhan dalam meningkatkan dan mengembangkan industri pertahanan dalam negeri dan penguatan modernisasi alutsista.

Upaya tersebut diharapkan dapat mengurangi ketergantungan Indonesia terhadap persenjataan produksi luar negeri.

Pemanfaatan produk dalam negeri untuk pertahanan, tambah Marsdya Julexi, dapat mewujudkan strategic autonomi atau kebebasan mengambil keputusan dan aksi ketika Indonesia harus melindungi kepentingan nasionalnya tanpa tekanan negara lain. Seperti embargo, misalnya.

Kendati demikian, Kabalitbang Kemhan menekankan bahwa masih ada tantangan dalam mengembangkan alpalhan.

“Produk yang dihasilkan kegiatan penelitian dan pengembangan alpalhan tersebut baru sampai pada tahap prototipe. Masih perlu pengembangan dan penyempurnaan sebelum sampai pada tahap first article dan mass product sehingga tidak bisa disamakan dengan produk siap jual” jelasnya.

Adapun salah satu prototipe senjata yang berhasil dikembangkan oleh Balitbang Kemhan adalah kendaraan Peluncur Roket R-HAN 122B.

Kepala Pusat Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Kapuslitbang) Alat Peralatan Pertahanan (Alpalhan) Balitbang Kemhan Brigjen TNI Rosidin MSi (Han) MSc mengatakan, Roket R-HAN 122B dapat memperkuat satuan marinir dan TNI angkatan laut (AL) yang saat ini menggunakan kendaraan Roket 122 MM, RM70, dan GRAD 40 buatan Cekoslovakia.

Selain itu, alutsista karya anak bangsa tersebut juga dilengkapi tabung launcher bertipe PL R-HAN 122B dengan kaliber 122 milimeter (mm) dan mampu memuat sebanyak 40 laras.

“Untuk pengoperasian, R-HAN 122B memiliki sistem otomatis pada bagian loading, elevasi, azimuth, firing dan kalkulator balistik. R-HAN 122B juga memiliki daya luncur sejauh 30 kilometer (km),” ujar Brigjen Rosidin.

Soal kemandirian persenjataan, Sekretaris Balitbang Kemhan Brigjen TNI Abdullah Sani menyampaikan bahwa 2021 akan menjadi momen bagi Balitbang Kemhan untuk fokus membangun prototipe alutsista.

Dengan begitu, Indonesia diharapkan mampu memproduksi senjata secara mandiri yang berkualitas pada 2024. Bahkan, kualitas senjata bisa setara dengan produk alutsista dari luar negeri.

Komodo Rifle is using DI instead of piston driven.

If i should choose between CAR 816 and Komodo's rifle, i will choose CAR 816.

Add: but if Komodo make new rifle that update to the trends in the future, that will be good.

D5 has piston-driven version, but not D7. D5 has auto and semi auto mode, but D7 only available in semi auto mode.

IIRC short piston for D5 available as alternative. It was in their website a few years back

BTW, let me ask all of you here. Who's here preferred direct impingement over piston (short or long) for actual real world combat patrol in Indonesia jungle or mountainous, amphibious (any combat operation outside law enforcement in urban area)? Any taker? pls raise your hand if you do

That dirty DI have to be take care like a baby (need more attention than piston driven like AK). Very bad idea to clean clean clean in annoying mosquitoes jungles and muddy rainforests. Yang ada kesel sendiri nyalahin apapun yang diliat.

Add the standard issue spork (sendok-garpu combo) that came with the ransum (particularly nasi bantal) that seem to get broken so often to the point one do need to bring own utensil from home And do you realize how difficult it is to light up that 5g hexamine tablet (tablet spiritus) that came with the pocket stove (which also prone to break due for being too thin) I actually prefer the old pocket stove (kompor lapangan) that came with 8x 15g hexamine tablet rather than the new one with only 4x 5g tablets. Its easier to light up the fuel tablet using the old pocket stove

So we got tech transfer for the engine. What other Techs are we getting for buying the Rafales. If we ain't got s**t we better off sticking with the KFX. If we do we can use the techs with our version of the KFX.

We have MRO rights so Rafale is already a better deal than KFX but it's the techs I'm more concerned whatever we got it's better be worth it introducing a new platform for the AU.
