I think @Brokengineer has made a valid point and put the full stop on this discussion with his post #2550 before this thread becomes an arena for a pissing contest between Tejas and Hurjet.
Both nations are proud of what they have achieved with the two planes in question so far.
Best thing to do is to wait and let Malaysia decide. Because whatever we say here will mean very little.

The TFX+Hurjet thread is best served for technical discussion only as far as possible.

Earlier some put down TFX and I intervened/countered that stuff (using up some time I otherwise would not have)...because I felt need to illustrate overall fair-basis intent of the forum.

Especially for what should be technical-oriented threads like that one.

i.e everyone has every right to be positive+confident of own science+technology+mil-industry ecosystem (and details of fruit harvest progressing), especially if one has been following things (i.e basis + merit) closely in that regard (that foreigners mostly do not)

But that its best to be neutral and open-minded w.r.t others in the same subject/endeavour.....rather than negative+demeaning (since you are now the foreigner that likely hasnt followed at depth in the same logic for that)

I mean we have individual here making loud claims now about Tejas being failure and mk2 being some indication of that (as though he knows more on this than the hours of footage+analysis by defence analysts and HAL+DRDO professionals themselves)

Violating the principle I tried to make clear earlier when same things were done towards TF-X (by outsiders) without proper basis.

I normally let that stuff go (its a forum, we have all kind of members and opinions), but there was an off-topic smear introduced (on entirety of my country) so it warranted response.

Hurjet will only be roll out ( finished prototype 1) in early 2023, this is TAI latest official statement. It usually needs around a year to build first prototype of a plane, same thing happen with other program. Malaysia is also in a rush to acquire LCA to replace their Hawks squadron which has so many accidents, latest one is this year or late 2021 where one of their Hawk plane was crush.

This is why IMO the chance for Hurjet to win Malaysian tender is behind KAI Korea and Indian Tejas, unless Malaysian is ambitious enough with their aerospace sector and committed to make long term plan to produce plane since TAI offer domestic assembling there if they chose Hurjet, a good step if Malaysia is willing to go into that direction.

Something that Malaysian needs in order to have a complete Aerospace company are assembling and system integration capability and also design capability and experience where for those ones they are lacking. They are still at the moment parts manufacturing focus.

Bro lets see. All have plus and negative points and schedules and timeline pressure.

These things (And continuing timeline discussion you are having on hurjet thread) is stuff best analysed in rearview....as we are not in the decision-maker head about priority matrix and evaluation and what is the specific time line pressure.

I just give benefit of doubt to everyone on their ambitious timelines....and simply wait for (the announced) time to pass and see the post-analysis be it met or unmet.

You are right the hawk issue is precipitating it since 2019 when this tender was announced....and covid played a year of delay and so on....so that might warrant quick decision soon, we will see.

TAI offered to make the first 3 Hürjets in Turkey and assemble the remaining 15 in Malaysia for the LCA tender. This should satisfy the 30% local input requirement of the Malaysian government. And we still need to get used to the idea of consuming more palm oil.

So AMCA started prototyping alread in october 2021 but will have rollout in 2023? In that respect the aim of TFx is faster, rollout is expected in March 2023 while prototype assembly has yet to start. Parts productions are ongoing though.

Not started. The date for unveiling is planned for 2024-25, first flight in 2026. And induction from 2030 of Mk1 version.

SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Yonhap) -- Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI), South Korea's sole aircraft manufacturer, said Friday it has won a 1.2 trillion-won (US$920 million) aircraft deal from Malaysia, with the delivery set to begin in 2026.

KAI signed the deal with the Malaysian defense ministry to export 18 FA-50 light attack aircraft, beating India's Tejas, Pakistan's JF-17, Russia's MIG-35 and Turkey's Hurizet, the company said in a statement.

It is the fourth time for KAI to sign an aircraft deal with a Southeast Asian country after Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, the statement said.

With the latest deal, KAI has exported 68 KT-1 basic and T-50 advanced trainer jets, as well as FA-50 aircraft, to Southeast Asian markets.

Globally, it has obtained deals to supply 222 aircraft to countries, which also include Iraq, Poland, Peru and Senegal.

KAI also expects to win a deal to provide another 18 FA-50s to Malaysia as the Southeast Asian country plans to beef up its aircraft fleet.

It aims to expand exports of its aircraft to the Middle East, Africa, Australia, the United States and other markets.

Damn, that is an almost full fledged single engine multirole fighter.

Even the trainer version of the hurjet Didn’t make its first flight yet. So, it could’ve taken a while For a fighter version to come online.

Probably they had some urgency or they did not want to take the risk on Hurjet.

Hurjet will fly in March and enter service in 2025. Hurjet light fighter will fly in 2025 and enter service in the following years.

Anyhow, FA-50 will not be delivered before 2026. So in the end we are talking about Malaysia waiting 1-2 additional years.

Not even the mission computer is korean, who nows when they want to ad weapon or other subsystems may ask for permisisons from third countries. :LOL:

Anyway a lot of butthurt for this one jet.

Just want to remind people that the FA-50 is finalist for USAF next gen advanced trainer (together with the T-7A).

It's definitely first class in its class.

Actually the Block 20 FA-50 looks good as interim for BAF pending the wait for higher end fighter jets.
That is very very unlikely to happen.

MRCA is coming no matter what, and believe it or not all 16 of them will be inducted in service before 2030.

However, if it were to happen I can tell BAF will very likely to go for HURJET.
Just for the sake of local assembly.
This is an offer that no way BAF will refuse, given their current super enthusiastic state about a domestic aerospace industry.
