Resisting new technology is the bane of Turkish mind since Ottoman era. A knee jerk reaction, quick dismissal of anything new and useful is now in our genes apparently. Someone will say "Gavur icadı bu" / "this thing is made by unbelievers" and that will be the end of that new technology like printing press. Back to darkness...

Current products doesn't have to be flawless. Anyone can find a flaw in anything to dismiss it.

Point is: It can still be useful while it is being improved by constant feedback from the field without risking any more lives. If "foto kapan"/motion sensor battery operated forest camera is successfully used to track PKK and kill them later with drone operations why are we so against adding a gun to that camera? If you position motion sensing cameras around your BVR remote perimeter PKK can't infiltrate without waking up entire main base. Or you can use dozens of quadcopters from the main base for constant software controlled autonomous patrols. Anything, anything at all but this irrational insistence on the old ways that clearly doesn't serve us and keeps getting our boys killed.

As always technology is the answer not throwing more bodies to meat grinder.
There is no way UGV operators could defend themself against raids, If he can't protect Itself there is no way he'll use the UGV. That place has zero to no defensive walls or anything, pkk rats probably fired at the tents.

While I mostly agree with you this event is in result of a purely taken decision for deployment at a point which will bring absolutely no benefit in a tactical way. There are well established bases in the same area a bit further to the north that are so well established that terrorists couldn't even dare to get close to and the moment they try they get BBQ'ed. A decision comparable to this is the recent redeployment at the Matin mountain (the last time we had to retreat due to the vulnerability from multiple directions, we also retreated from the east part of Seri due to similar conditions to the one at Tatasara which is the place of the current event) and I hope this winter we don't hear bad news from there, but be prepared.
I hate it when it happens like this but only one day after we talked about it we see an attack on Matin. Matin and Tatasara are the most exposed positions to infiltrations right now. Thanks to the fast reaction of our soldiers and their discipline they managed to ambush the terrorists and at least 2 killed terrorists are reported right now. I expect the numbers to get higher.

The identities of our martyred soldiers from yesterday in result of the attack on the Tatasara are revealed.

Infantry Liutenant Ramazan GUNAY, Infantry Specialist Sergeant Mehmet SERINKAN, Infantry Specialist Corporal Ismail YAZICI, Infantry Enlisted Private Yasin KARACA, Infantry Enlisted Private Cagatay ERENOGLU, Infantry Enlisted Private Emre TASKIN. May Allah accept their martyrdom!

Six of our heroic comrades were martyred and one of our heroic comrades was injured in the conflict that broke out with terrorists trying to infiltrate our base area on December 23, 2023 in the Claw-Lock Operation region (Matin).

According to initial findings, 13 terrorists were neutralized in the conflict. Contact continues in the region. Sudden air operations are also carried out against specified targets.

May God have mercy on our martyrs who lost their lives in this incident that filled us with deep pain and sadness, our condolences and patience to their grieving families, the Turkish Armed Forces and our noble nation, and we wish a speedy recovery to our wounded.

I just don't know what to say...

There will come a day when we will need to have another talk re deployments. These latest Matin deployments were always shaky and too little too late for the season. People said so for months. Fuck this day. Yes, you can't gain territory without losing men. But none of those men had to die.

Anyone gonna answer for this? Of course not. 200+ Drones in the inventory but terrorist rats still are able to infiltrate or even come close enough to do damage to our bases.

No one in this country answers for anything.

Offered counter-point was keeping busy & deter enemy from re-supply and IED planting. For landing zones and potential base areas, by deploying units near them in winter.

TLDR: They basically say harsh winter for TSK = easier spring / summer for TSK.

Lesser evil type of situatation to me. Neither agree or discharge this type of warfare style. If it's true...

Meanwhile Turkish taxpayer money continues to go into the pockets of terrorists and their sympathizers. As long as the enemies at home arent neutralized, the enemies abroad will continue to linger. Instead all that we are going to get is a few statements from AKP officials until they shift the topic to Gaza again in a weeks time.

MALE drones can't see in heavy dense fog and snow.

This is true if they came from tunnels. If they came from between villages, this was a seperate strike group. It would mean the same, that Matin deployment so far has been less than satisfactory sadly. These points will need to be reinforced with men to keep the locations and have an advantage in the spring.

Unfortunately the names of pur martyrs are circulating again.

Do not share any information regarding this unless official confirmation exists. Yesterday one of the families of our martyrs learned for the martyrdom of their son from the social media.

There are enough tools on hand to make these bases pretty much impenetrable. And the area around them into no go zones.

But we instead drop a handful of soldiers in an isolated area where they can‘t even get supplies regularly and expect everything to go smooth.

like I said, who will answer for this? No one. The Superpower of this world regularly disciplines its officers, yes even higher ranking ones but we are a country where responsibility is thrown on the almighty.

The ones suffering are ones again the poor people in their villages who can’t even afford to heat their crumbling homes.

This is another problem no one wants to mentions or deal with in the TSK. Discipline. Names getting leaked. Operation getting leaked. Positions getting leaked.

OPSEC anyone? Or do the higher ups think it’s just an option?

You have to hang those by the balls who gave the orders to deploy our soldiers on a hill that 1) doesn't offer a advantageous defence position, 2) close to a village sympathizing with PKK, 3) close to a PKK wartunnel... and if that's not enough they decided that our soldiers can stay longer in a outpost with literally no cover in Fall/Winter which is always very cloudy and the weather conditions really harsh.
