The way you have good relations with Russia is to not take any of their shit. Russians are your typical playground bully, if they can harass you they will but if they know you will kick their arse should they do something to you, they become your best friend. Underlying the Russian façade as witnessed by the Ukraine war especially seeing them flee from conscription is a cowardly character.

For me its not about having bad relations with Russia, its about limiting our economic exposure to them so that when we need to hit them and we do, it limits what they can do back. Militarily speaking there is very little they can do.

Also they are not going to nuke a country where they make billions of dollars from and then risk that nation shutting them down in the entire region. Turks don't seem to understand that at the end of the day the YPG/PKK is a just a dirty terrorist organisation that brings no profit to these powers except for its ability to be used.

Russia is the weak link in Syria, it can be broken and should be broken.

However since the jet downing we did the dumbest thing you could do, we deepened energy ties with Russia. Energy being Russia's trump card and energy dependence being our biggest weakness. Putin must be laughing at erdogan.

Like wise the attacks on Turkish controlled regions has to have a cost, send Ukraine Akinci and make a big advertisement about it. And each time the Russians disrespect you keep uping the support.
Should have send suicide drones like kargi or those from stm.
Send them anti drones system as well by aselsan.

We could send so much that would have a serious effect on the war, yet we don't. We keep allowing Russia to have it easy while Russia has given us nothing except to arm our enemies and threaten our nation.

Like i say talks of erdogan being a russian plant shouldn't be ignored, he does only the bare minimum to oppose Russia and every time the Turkish military finally engages he seems to always shut it down in favour of Russia.

We should make our regions in Syria a no-fly zone. Do we have enough strength and determination to do this?

No doubts we have the strength, but we don't have the determination. Russia is the principle reason why we have millions of Syrian refugees, they bombed the shit out of civilians to force them to flee to Turkey. This trick of using refugees to destabilise Turkey has been done many times in history by the Russians to Turkey.

We got to be willing to shoot down their planes and when the Russians raise their voices we smack them again. Because erdogan showed himself to be weak to Russia, so there will be a couple of rounds of escalation before the Russians fall in line.

By letting the Russians shit on you, you are inviting more and more trouble onto your doorstep from them. And the more they shit on you and do more you go grovelling to their feet for business deals, the more they know they can get away with it.

We are lucky that Putin made a colossal miscalculation over Ukraine, however this shouldn't be taken for granted. A few years from now maybe everything goes back to normal for Russia and you missed a great opportunity to screw them. If this were reversed the Russians wouldn't miss this opportunity to use against us.

If Turkey ended up a serious war and she was getting screwed on the battlefield in the same way Russia is getting screwed in Ukraine, i guarantee you Russia would 100% use our disaster to escalate troubles in syria and libya against us.

Remember don't project who we are onto who we do business with. Turks are nothing like Russians. The Russian sees his man go down next to him, he leaves him to rot and die. The Turk see his soldier in danger, he throws himself in front of the danger before it hits his man.

Not even worth 5% of Turkey securing her pkk controlled border or her greater regional interests. All interests has Russia in the way.

The situation is out of control. HTS has captured ALL of Afrin region and they are now attacking Azaz. What a joke Turkey's intervention has become.

The collapse is so rapid that an under-the-table deal might have been made between HTS and Turkey. SMO was anyways useless in Afrin.

Perhaps the Turkish government is preparing grounds to deliver an internationally approved invitation for the Syrian government.

A secret agreement between Assad and Ankara?

Idlib + Afrin in exchange for the refugees in Turkey plus a comprehensive cooperation against PKK?

Everything's possible at this point.

Could be related to how SNA rejects cooperating with Syrian government. The staunch rejection is not productive at all and in the way of us returning refugees back to Syria.

Still voting on Zafer party is the only viable solution to force government into sending refuges back. Any notion of becoming soft towards government will backfire and they will continue their policies.

Muharrem Ince already pointed out the promises made when RTE was running for presidency are not kept.

As much as I hate russia with all my hearth, we are still dependent on these orcs. First, the West is not making things easy for us (this is partly due to our wrong foreign policy decisions) We need nuclear plants and no one else is willing to build them for us. We still need cheap gas, tourists etc. It is not because we fear them, which was the case before. Now if left one to one and only conventional weapons, we will tear them apart.

then we will be seen as part of the West. West is not in decline at all. They are the technology and science producers. If we have the above we will also be part of that privileged group.
Why do we need to be part of the West, cant we do all those things and stay the unique people in the middle?
Not East nor West,just us.

Yeah but we don't resolve our problems by constantly making the same tired mistakes over and over. Why is our economy a complete shambles? Why are we rewarded with record currency depreciation on a weekly basis? Why do we have at a minimum 4 million but most likely close to 10 million refugees? The failures are enough to write a collection of books over.

What is the cause for all these failures?

And whoever is responsible for all these failures is it wise to expect that same person/entity/cabal to bring us positive results, when their history is absolute failure?

So lots of massive geopolitical mistakes were made, we can forget about that but in order to resolve things going forward you cannot keep making Turkey more and more dependent on Russia. Thats going to give us the same results.

We have to incrementally move away from Russian energy dependence because they are the number one nation opposing in many places and the most likely nation we need to slap in order to protect our interests.

R&D is very costly and for certain technologies the investment needed is enormous. Of course, we should be unique and independent as much as possible. But if we want to continue this pace of technological achievements in the future, we need a certain level of information flow from the West.

I am not defending the current administratipn at all. If the West would support us both economically and militarily in a genuine way, I have several times implied we should even send soldiers to fight against russian army to revenge our losses from the past and weaken russia even further.
