We don't believe Türkiye should possess F-35 aircraft.
However, Israel understands that the U.S. administration has a broader set of strategic considerations it must take into account when making the decision.
We oppose the sale of F-35 stealth fighter jets to Türkiye, but will respect any American decision.
This sounds less "assertive" than in the past, no?Yechiel Leiter, Israeli Ambassador to the US:
Exactly. It's only the ambassador to the US but going from "we control America" to "they do what they need to do" type of talks is a huge difference. This sounds less "assertive" than in the past, no?
Your cope on F-35 is honestly at insane levels man. Leiter is a soft spoken historian, he's being diplomatic in tone. And tbh he's one of the few in Bibi's main circle that have been "middling" re Turkish relations. They must be thinking they can cause Türkiye more harm by giving the F35 than by not giving it.
You probably didn't hear it when the American general said "We desperately need to give the F35 to Turkey" several years ago. They are thinking they can shape Türkiye's airforce's future by introducing the F35 into the TurAF. Their hope is a different government in Türkiye will ditch Kaan and just have the F35 instead. To do that they have to have gone forward with the F35 delivery and build on this base to sell more F35 to Türkiye. This plan can not happen if the US does not give the F35 now.Your cope on F-35 is honestly at insane levels man. Leiter is a soft spoken historian, he's being diplomatic in tone. And tbh he's one of the few in Bibi's main circle that have been "middling" re Turkish relations.
Netenyahu on the other hand repeated the same stuff he's been saying for a decade again today.
Give me a quote on that. You probably didn't hear it when the American general said "We desperately need to give the F35 to Turkey" several years ago
It was in a foreign media article several years back, internet should have it, I don't have a link. There were time I was not allowed to post on the forum, missing link is the consequence. I may have even shared a link before I don't remember, website search is not very smart.Give me a quote on that.
Provide funding and maybe Airfields for operations. Luckily our own will follow in 2028/29"During the signing ceremony, Türkiye joined Finland, France, Poland, and Spain as participants in the Cooperative Airborne Early Warning Initiative. The initiative aims to enhance Allied airborne early warning capabilities through multinational cooperation in procurement, training, operations, and future capability development."
NATO will replace the E-3s with Globaleye. Unclear how will we be a part of the coop.

Maybe it has something to do with Alp-200A agreement with Aselsan signed last idef. That is an air early warning radar after all and these announcment seems very vague. I doubt we would buy Saab Globaleye"During the signing ceremony, Türkiye joined Finland, France, Poland, and Spain as participants in the Cooperative Airborne Early Warning Initiative.
