View attachment 55677 Should it be still called an OPV?
Doesn't it started to look a lot like I class? ( with a different mast and a different placement for AShM. )

I am wondering, comparatively if it can be considered on per with I class in tarms of over all capability, or is it somewhat downgraded?

The Hisar OPV is derived from Ada Class corvettes. The OPV is also being built in a way that it can easily be upgraded with new weapon systems, and radars in times of crisis. The whole purpose of the OPV is to economically feasible with less armament, cheaper electronics, and radars to operate as an offshore patrol vessel, and not in open seas. I don't see why it would be ideal to arm an OPV such heavily with cheaper radars, electronics, and propulsion.

Here is the older configuration of the Hisar OPV that both @dBSPL, and @Anmdt have mentioned last year.

" While OPV will incorporate Mar-D in place of Cenk-S, Low tier ESM in place of ARES series, Compact EA in place of full EA / ED system. While rest of ammunition is close except the Gokdeniz - and Turkish PDMS"

Configuration:

76mm Main Gun
1x ASELSAN GÖKDENİZ CIWS
8 cell HİSAR air defense missiles
8x Anti-Ship Cruise Missile
4x ready to fire ROKETSAN L/UMTAS missile system
2x ROKETSAN ASW Rocket Launch System
2x ASELSAN STAMP remote controlled weapon stations
TACAN, adequate hangar for unmanned or ASW-ASuW helis
YAKAMOS Hull Mounted Sonar System
HIZIR LFAS Low Frequency Variable Depth Active and Passive Towed Array Sonar
Torpedo Countermeasure Systems
ASELSAN MAR-D Search Radar
Electro-Optical Sensors
ECM systems etc.

Those are potential armament of OPV. They could be built and developed in a wat that will make it easier to refitand sell. E.g. Libya could very well have great use of OPV of Ada class.

Can anyone answer me, will the slow speed of TCG Anadolu be a problem?

I think a flatship must be at least 25knot

It is an alternative study for export nothing to do with the current OPV project.

Yes I know but I am wondering should it be still classified as OPV.

Doesn’t the classification depend on a country’s armed forces ? Just as some will classify a Frigate of similar size as a Corvette and vice verse. I’m sure Chinas OPV are heavily armed as well.

My point is you arm it lightly and call it OPV regardless of what anyone says about it. And use it as stopgap for a few years before selling it a a Light Frigate/Corvette to a friendly country e.g. An african country, BD, PN, Indonesia etc.

I wonder if Hisar class can endure sea conditions like a frigate.
For instance, according to open sources range of Hisar class is greater than that of Barbaros and Yavuz classes. Then, can we say Hisar class replace Yavuz class?
Larger ships typically have better seakeeping thus can endure worse sea conditions. It is for sure I-class has better seakeeping than both, but i may not provide a comparison between Yavuz and Hisar class.

Yavuz class is being used for escort and patrol duties recently, so it is likely that Hisar class will be taking over these duties while I-class will be taking over frigate duties (AAW, ASW etc).

OPV is not a classification based on size or combat duties but a mission profile. An OPV may vary from a boat size, corvette to the destroyer or even further.

Chinese OPV are not armed as heavily as the picture that @Afif shared, Nevertheless most of modern corvettes. Just think about
Corvettes such as Ada-class, or Sigma.

Perhaps it would be more suitable to use the financial means on other projects since weapon systems constitute one of the biggest expenses for a ship?

What was little bit weird about that design that it has more VLS than I class for air defence yet it doesn't even have any medium size radar like the smart-s mk2 or Chenk . Nor does it have any ECM system like AREAS-2N on its mast.
And even its ESM antennas are less than what is on Ada corvettes mast.
I am wondering why sensor package is downgraded with such high weapon load.
And can it be upscaled with a different mast similar to I class if required?

Using a ram and 35 mm on one launcher is a little bit risky from my side. Ship can be under the Saturation Attack. I mean ship can be targeted by a couple anti ship missile from diffrent ways in same time. But your ciws and ram must look same way in the same time it little bit disadvantages. İndependent ciws and ram can engage a two antiship missile who attack diffrent ways on same time.

So alone ram and gökers (behalf of stops/stamps) more logical.

I combined the construction of our TCG AKHISAR ship for you and tried to correct the image.

The outfitting of the ship is currently in progress and it can be said that it is ahead of schedule.

Like @TheInsider mentioned it's probably just a "Study" related to export. Where did you find the picture?
