It seems Dearsan model is based on Ada, Desan model is based on Istif.

I am really wondering what will be the end products look like and how will the OPV fleet shaped.

ASELSAN announced that it has completed the BARBAROS-Class Frigates Mid-Life Upgrade Project by modernising 21 systems on TCG Oruçreis F245.

Very misleading caption. Anyone would think that the whole project is completed. Only the Orucreis ship’s modernisation is completed. There are 3 more ships in the program that need to be upgraded.

Exactly 7 years ago the contract was signed with a view to complete the program of modernisation in 2024. Clearly it is delayed and there are no signs of the other 3 ships being upgraded yet. We are still dwelling on the news of “what a great job Aselsan and Co has done “ ; Albeit it is a great feat of engineering by Aselsan and Co for which they need to be commended, one ship alone is not enough to boast about.

Like you said, this is a modernization program, but they didn't mention that they completed the program. Did they?

Bro , just read the first paragrapgh as the caption. If I didn’t know what was actually done, I would think the whole Project was completed. It says frigates, in plural, and states that project was completed.

She was reclassed as a training and test ship last year. Interesting that it wasn't sent to Somalia instead. It should be a simple, small very short range OPV with two big guns for patrols.

Those ships were brought to 'test and training ship' status following certain spare part acquisition and maintenance issues. Not that it is embargoed or so, but few systems have been discontinued in spare part list too and cannibalism has brought us so far.

Wondering how that will be maintained in maldives, or whether the ship will go some slimming down on problematic components. Likely will follow additional exports to maldives on closeby dimensions, the transfer is for training purposes.

Someone, somehow blocked transfer of a FAC and sale of one new NTPB to one party in Libya, yet they have received plenty of trainings for boat operations. While now we have heard of MoU with eastern part (Hafter), i have no idea what the hell is going on since it is purely political.

Desan and Özata simply lease out the slipways and shipyard facilities for the construction. It is possible that Dearsan is already owning those shipyards and it was them, who earlier got the coastal oiler, assignee to these two shipyards.

The main contractor is Dearsan, remaining is simply 'facilities'.

Understood. So why is there a 2 different models?

Will there be a 2 different(or more) hulls of OPV's with different mission profiles(like hi-lo mix or something else) or is there a mistake with one of the models?(Like outdated model (with Ada shaped) or misunderstanded model(with Istif shaped) )

Just the design iterations. When Dearsan had the model, possibly the only change was related with the VLS. Later followed by few more adjustments and the scaled model hasn't caught up with that one.

Speaking of MEKOs, I'm sure ASELSAN could even put some interesting things in MEKO 360 like replacing Aspide Mk1 with GÖKSUR 100-N VLS (They pretty much have the same range) and putting three non-standalone GÖKDENİZ in place of four DARDOs

New LCTs, and an Ocean-Going research vessel is also still on the plan.

NG-MCMW will be 2470 tons, 80 meters in length and 2 organic USV for MCMW, 4 UUV and others. MHV on the other hand will be equipped with VDS.

Can we say that minehunter fleet is set to increase in size? Aydın class ships are too young and very capable ships, no?

I think those are not to replace Aydın Class but Engin Class consisting of 5 hulls. 1 of those already has been spared for test&training. Possibly by 2030 all of the Engin Class will retire, marking 30 years of service. But yes eventually the fleed expands with 6 new NG-MCMW.
