''ThorAtom'' the name says it,will they work on Thorium reactors maybe hopefully?

The main focus of ThorAtom A.S. is to develop, design, and produce the “Molten Salt Reactor,” which stands out among the 4th generation nuclear reactors, according to the needs of our country. One of ThorAtom A.S.’s key principles is to utilize thorium in addition to uranium as fuel, taking advantage of Turkey’s significant reserves. Furthermore, the heat and electricity generated by the Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) significantly expand its application areas. Harnessing the energy from MSR enables the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, freshwater production from seawater, greenhouse farming in cold regions, and propulsion power on floating platforms, all of which fall within the areas of interest for ThorAtom A.S.

Sustainability​

ThorAtom Inc. is the first Turkish private initiative that takes the lead in developing and implementing innovative technologies that are environmentally innovative, utilizing resources efficiently and without harmful emissions. Nuclear energy production has emerged as the most efficient and cost-effective option in combating the climate crisis. However, for nuclear energy to be sustainable, it is crucial to have a secure supply chain for uranium and thorium, especially. Besides the known reserves of uranium, it is known that there are over 4 billion tons of dissolved uranium reserves in seawater. In Turkey, thorium has reserves of nearly one million tons, which can be used as nuclear fuel for thousands of years. Thus, the preference for fourth-generation sustainable nuclear technologies in Turkey opens up new horizons for our country.

I was going to share the news. IMO here is the most important thing is nuclear reactors will be small and modular.
Anyways great project.
Imagine we created floating mini nuclear reactor, Incase of earthquakes would be helpful.
Also we could supply with electricity some African countries.
russia have them , nuclear reactor energy production on ships , we aslo have them but not nuclear 😆

This isnt the thread for it but I Honestly bekieve that the most important threat to Turkey rn is Syria

I would prefer for Turkey to solve the Syrian issue with the US than any of these items being solved as such items can be domesticated sooner or later. However, YPG gainjng statehood will literally translate to a potential civil war in Turkey in the near future in Kurdish areas which something that no CAATSA or F35s will ever solve

The Chinese Fourth Generation Thorium Molten Salt Reactor (TMSR) is a global breakthrough for cleaner and safer nuclear energy primarily because it leverages the thorium fuel cycle and the molten salt design.

*Cleaner Energy (Sustainable Fuel): By successfully transmuting abundant, naturally occurring Thorium-232 into fissile uranium-233, the TMSR can essentially "breed" its own fuel. This dramatically expands the global nuclear fuel supply, as thorium is 3-4 times more abundant than uranium, securing a sustainable energy source for millennia. Furthermore, the thorium cycle produces significantly less long-lived, high-level radioactive waste compared to conventional uranium reactors, simplifying long-term disposal to about 300 years instead of thousands.


*Safer Energy (Inherent Safety): The molten salt design eliminates the high-pressure cooling systems of traditional reactors. It is equipped with a passive safety feature—a freeze plug—that melts if the reactor overheats or loses power. This allows the liquid fuel to drain into a safe, subcritical tank, automatically and passively shutting down the reaction and virtually eliminating the risk of a catastrophic meltdown. The low-pressure operation also removes the potential for explosive pressure failures.

This achievement validates a path to nuclear power that is both fuel-secure and inherently safer.
