If this is the BATU engine, I think it is reverse engineered from MTU. But it would be better than developing a new engine, and good answer to those embargo loving so called allies
I think it is licensed/IP rights owned/ know-how transferred doosan v12 engine, which is identical to the MTU, we can assume koreans either copied it or purchased IP rights from MTU.
They used to produce it under license as well, if i am not wrong.

Both cases could be nice, and it is not looking like any BATU renders as before and I don't think BMC is capable of developing this in a short period of time..

Isn't this supposed to be BATU?

I don't really think they would go for reverse engineering, neither there is sufficient time and knowledge for this, nor they would risk being the bad guy against Germany.
Probably Germany has known that Koreans shared the tech or know how, sham fight.

BATU has differences from MTU engine. Engine block, exhaust. Probably its fully indigenous design.

EDİT: I noticed that red circle will be used for exhasuts of turbochargers. Engine overall looks very similar to Doosan one.

Your picture shows unfinished BATU engine. Here is the finished BATU

Finally we figured out thanks to @Anmdt BATU identical to Doosan's engine.

Exceptional feet of engineering from BMC POWER and in a very short time too! Looking forward to BATU being dropped into Altay! And possible marine applications too!

1500 hp is nothing for marine.. :p just telling.
Since the space is not really a constraint, they could work on bigger versions with extra cylinders, a more durable water cooled marinized version which can be used on small boats.
Ares 35 FPB (inspection boat) is going to be produced in high numbers (122), it was a perfect chance to invest in a small marine diesel engine but i really wonder why did they miss the chance. Transmission is not really a concern too because the boat runs on waterjet.

It was said that the gas turbine version of the TS1400 turboshaft engine 4 of them would solve the engine problem of the 1 Istanbul class frigate.

I would like to add that No matter what Turkiye engineer develop. There are ppl of certain countries which are driven from jealousy will say Turkiye Copy this!

In real world things are that way ->
Example Bill Gates was a cunning person.
He steal, twist so much from other ppl ideas, they products, they prototypes which they invented, created etc.
Bill Gates build a model how to steal in a way that advocates can't SUE him using a laws of copyrights.
I am trying to say that IF YOU BUILD a PRODUCT WHICH IS YOURS and IT IS GOOD ENOUGH.
THEN who cares what other jealousy ppl try to say about that product. Like it is look Like other prodcut or it is ugly or "It is not look good for me yeaaa" Bla BLa
Two words:

We should not bother ourselves whether the engine is reverse engineered, based on TOT, copied, stolen, robbed or ripped. We got it & its ours now.
To me it is as indigenous as indigenous gets. And with due respect to some members do not underestimate the will power & resolve of our engineers.

This is the transmission testing station; with the transmission in the middle.

Doosan engine's design is different from MTU so that the korean engine can't be used with RENK transmission family.

Since the BATU engine is identical to Doosan , we can't design another transmission different from its original design.

Here is the korean transmission design which we will mass produce soon

Edit: i think I'm mistaken . I should'nt have made sharp statement " RENK transmission can't be used with Doosans engine".

So we could also see another transmission alternatives.

Turbines are relatively inefficient for power generation for ships. They should only be used for when the available space is small. Otherwise Diesel engines are the best which means the closest capability we have to the ideal is the BATU engine of BMC Power. If other companies like TAIS and some others that already develop marine engines and train locomotive engines don't come up with more ideal engines BATU will be our best bet.
