I don't like TEI taking shortcuts. There was a mention by the SSB Chief İsmail Demir of an engine project for Hürjet class. I hope there is a domestic project other than this license production. It will depend on what number of Hürjets will be built off course and if it makes sense to make domestic engines for it and possible future planes using similar class engines.

For Hurjet and who knows may be for supersonic MIUS's engine issue we may feel a bit relaxed if we can achive an agreement with GE.
I don't think we have any luxury like that. It's imperative that we achieve militarizing the engines we have at the moment and utilize them to the fullest to achieve leaps in independence.

Just as the success of TB2 opened up markets success with TS1400 in T129 will result in the same.

GE engines can only buy us time until we make more suitable engines for our needs. We need totally indigenous engines in every major category.

I really sense he is trying to dynamite some development happening elsewhere, not particularly him but a few people from the inner circle who goes along with him to such meetings who brokers this kind of deals for a commission;

-GE announcing LM2500-500 production in turkey,
-TEI nearing to sign agreement for locally manufacturing F404,
-RR nearing to ink some deals on the future TF engine of MMU,
-TEI making some progress on TF engines (by partnering) for UCAVs

and then suddenly this happens, he makes some absurd statements and halts the entire progress happening.

He could also be trying to speed up some development. Putting pressure on GE, RR by showing that Turkey has options.

Because it is Russian, it is bad.
We know who is biased here looking at the avatars.
"Because it is RTE, then it is right", unconditionally admitting without even filtering.

We have two baskets; one with western or anything developed jointly with them, one national basket where project is entirely developed here.
No place for a rotten untrustworthy 3rd basket prone to fail and also break the other baskets at any moment.

PS: Turkey is not a 3rd world country to make 3-4 baskets with direct purchases from several suppliers just to secure future, there is a rising industry and all we should do is strengthening the national basket.

I wish turkey also makes contact with chinese engine makers for more leverage. Chinese love win-win deals. They make you think you have done it yourself while they have done the most work. They like to save face for others.

They helped iran and northkorea with radars and sam without taking credit for it.

This gives Turkey more leverage againsst western companies.

Its quite clear that Erdogan is trying to please Putin by putting forward co-operation possibilities - in order to prevent an operation in Idlib. I mean the entire objective of the meeting was to come to an agreement in Northern Syria, but the only statement about it was " maintaining the status-quo in Idlib".

I would say/hope that what Erdogan is saying is nothing more than a bluff to play off the US (and even Germany for that matter) against Russia to improve ties but based on what happened with the S400s, its quite possible that some of what he mentioned in terms co-operation actually does happen.......

He has spoken on S-400, we thought it was a bluff, then it happened and caused a catastrophe,
He again speaks on several matters, i am sure these will somehow happen and cause worse catastrophic events than before.
Despite of CAATSA and other sanctions, embargo, the cooperation - partnership is still happening in the background off-the eyes, If this happens it will go worse and diminish.
and Russian despite of acting as a "friend" will never contribute as much as the "enemy-threat like" west, even in the best-case scenario.
Checking Syrian thread will tell us much better about how "friendly" Russians are.

These fields still very unlikely for turkey to go through alone ..esp with aircraft engines ... And imo russia is very likely to be the 1st option for TAI if their is a problem with f110 usage ... Forget to get any congress approval for any deal with the current american administration ... Its hostile against turkey and will use every chance to harm it .. coz we know how far biden loves greeks and pkk

Turkey must looking for other alternatives for german subs, us engines because of delays and silent embargoes. This will make the western countries think again. TLORAMIDS project is a good example where mulitple countries were put up against each other to have the best deal for Turkey.

And saying that russian and chinese engine technology is bad as a Turk is being like a jealous fox that cant get grapes...

other than space rocket technology, we should not go with russia. it is our ultimate rival in the region. what we are doing? we are trying to get russian export weapon systems and technology which is leading us to against western technology and western systems. Additionally, we are also act against nato!! More over, all our systems are western and nato operatable, which will affect operationally badly with any future russian system in our inventory.
This only shows that we are becoming a third world country like third world old soviet republics!!
There is no logical decision for our people and our country any more!!
the idiots clapping this movement can not see what will happen.
we have technology and some defense industry thx to access to nato technology and nato institutes!!
