There is no information as to why it was dismounted. Maybe it will be used on this ship, maybe it is still being tested on this ship. whoo knows? MAR-D is a lite version in terms of range and capability. Smart-S's counterpart( or maybe better) is Aselsan HAZAR 3D.

Just to note most naval ships have 6-7 mm (<10mm) plating on the top side.

Probably one of the reason why we haven't seen our lasers at work very often is that there must be a matching power source to go along with them. Small turbine generators and dense battery packs are required to make them portable.

TEI and now Idealab seem to be working on small gas turbines. Why not transform some of them in to power generators?

They should be more agile in such endeavors.
It is not that there are no precedents, there are.
Small turbine generators are suitable to use even in some robots and robotic war machines.
SSB should also be supporting development in this are.
And as the turbines are small RD budget are also small.
