I watched Mr. Görgün's interview and compiled some points that I deem important. There could be hundreds of tidbits in the conversation but without being bogged down too much in the dialogue these are the notable points(for me);

The numbers in parenthesis are timestamps. They could differ by 5 seconds or so. And the texts in blue are my additions(not uttered by the CEO).

- Total export countries reached 80. (4:18)
- CATS cameras exported to ten countries on BAYKAR drones. (4:30)
- Last month we produced 15 CATS, this month same number, in January we'll be producing 20 CATS a month. (5:50)
- Better version of CATS(F500C) will start testing in the first months of 2023. (6:25)
- The design and developments for integrated EOTS for TFX and KIZILELMA continues. (6:50)
- About 20 ASELPOD has been delivered so far. Second gen ASELPOD also being developed. (7:15)
- There will be a total of 100 CATS delivered this year. (8:00)
- To date we produced 35 different radar systems. There are 29 different radar systems in development right now(these radars deliveries will start next year). And there are 12 different new-concept radar developments, like quantum radars.. (8:45)
- We have produced radars in bands of VHF, UHF, S, L, C, X, Ku, Ka and even W band. (9:25)
- This year we have delivered 13 different radar systems. Some of these are, ACAR(Ground Surveillance Radar) radar, Air Traffic Control Radar, EIRS(Early Warning Radar) , TEIRS(Mobile Early Warning Radar) , KALKAN(Mid Altitude AD Radar), FOPRAD(Foliage Penetration Radar) , MAR(Mobile 3d Search Radar) , STR(Weapon Detection Radar) and radar based seekers we have developed for missiles. (9:35)
- First aerial AESA will be delivered for AKINCI in less than a month. (11:45)
- We're developing a fully automated, Lights-Out factory for radar production. (12:40)
- KORKUT(Low Altitude AD) is exported to several countries. Demand is very strong for KORKUT (14:15)
- We're working with about 5.000 companies. (23:00)
- 648 products have been nationalized in the last three years (32:10)
- The companies that are working with ASELSAN are not asked to provide a "letter of guarantee" when they receive loans from banks, and they're treated favorably. (32:55)
- 20 electric buses were delivered to SAMSUN municipality and it was reported that on some lines the cost of operation was measured eight times less than a conventional bus, and on some other lines it was ten times less. and they'll amortize themselves in three years. (41:50)
- The average of age of ASELSAN's employees is 34. (42:50)
- In the last year there were 1500 interns at ASELSAN. (44:05)

These are the highlights for me. He also emphasized the importance of "Lean Manufacturing" and the efforts for indigenization(through Indigenization Directorate at ASELSAN) many times in the interview.

The video,

Does anyone know how much does a single WESCAM MX-15 or HENSOLDT ARGOS-II cost? Any ballpark figure?

1.0-1.2 million $ Changes with options customer wanted
It's a million dollar product? 😮 Are you sure?

If that's true, then ASELSAN can make hundreds of millions $ with F500C alone. That's huge.

yes, but the problem is there are already big and stablished names in this domain who dominates the market.
however, Aselsan can sell their products with Turkish platforms.

FLIR business is big. Aselsan sold 100 CATS this year. Even at half the price, this is still 50 million $. Next year Aselsan will probably produce 200+ cameras. This is big.

That’s great however as Afif pointed out there are few established brands dominating the market.
Will ASELSAN go all the way and develop further in the future and maybe make itself a respectable place in the market? Maybe even offering stand alone units for different users in various fields, for civilian applications, in particular?
I’d really love to see them as a significant player in the industry.

Within the scope of the cooperation agreement signed by AYESAŞ and the Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan, it is aimed to jointly develop accident warning devices used on air and land platforms.

Cin teknolojisi ile farki gostermek ichin.

To show the difference with Chinese technology.

It is not like they lack Sterling coolers as they are not to difficult to produce. It simply is a design choice. Some of the benefits are lower mass, no need for a battery for the cooler and less electronic noise. On the other hand, it is a lot more cumbersome to handle but a liter of N2 can last for 6-24h (at least in an insulated system on the ground).

ASELSAN has developed a new electronic warfare pod for UAVs. The pod can blunt the enemy air defense system from 100 km away.

Noting that they have signed systems that carry electronic warfare capabilities to UAVs in the form of pods, Haluk Görgün made the following assessment:

“Their effectiveness against well-known air defense systems has been observed. When you attach this to a SİHA, we have developed electronic support units that will jam the radar of the air defense system from a distance of close to 100 kilometers, and enable our SİHA to get closer to the target and move away from fulfilling its mission.

These have started to be tested, 2023 may be the year when they will be delivered, mass production will begin, and export will be made.
