Streit Group has broken ground on the phase three expansion of its facility in the United Arab Emirates. The event, streamed online due to COVID19 restrictions, saw the cutting of ribbons on the new site and a ceremonial spade placed in the ground. This expansion comes after the facility opened in 2007 with the second phase expansion being completed in 2015.

The new facilities aim to add a range of improvements including the capacity to manufacture commercial transport vehicles in addition to boats that are up to 20m long. A steel production line incorporating laser and robot technology will also be added in addition to a glass Research and Development facility. Finally, a training academy will be added to the site.

Founded in 1992 by Chairman Guerman Goutorov, Streit Group now operates 12 sites across the world in countries including the U.S, Jordan and Turkey. It produces a wide range of vehicles for military, security and police forces. Roles the company caters for include force protection, riot control and VIP transport. The company, which is the largest privately owned armoured vehicle manufacturer in the world, also includes watercraft and the SHEP all terrain vehicle family in its portfolio.

Under current plans, the expansion will take 12 months to complete with an opening ceremony taking place shortly afterwards.
