It feels to me KAAN will have a very significant payload, like carrying Bozdoğans *and* Amraams while also carrying Som-J. That bay looks like it was meant for Som-J. If it can carry total 10-12 AA missiles in pure AA config that would be neat (side bays included)

Being able to carry SOM-J inside was confirmed multiple times

BVR missiles bigger then they looks.
6x Gokdogan/Gokhan and 2x Bozdogan sounds more realistic in AA configuration.

KAAN's weapon bay is probably big enough so they don't have to cut the fins and actuators to fit in like F-22's bay above.

But i would be really surprised if they can fit 4x missiles in each main bay.

The MMU is such a plane, It's hard to describe with words. Every single day when I was a child in the early 2000s going to bed with a dream of becoming a pilot, perhaps even flying a Turkish made fighter jet. Waking up feeling sad but remembering you can atleast play some flight simulator and soon apply to a flying school. Vague talks about domestic fighter jet among my family. I grew up with a non-existant jet fighter. But I lived my childhood years as if, MMU always existed but somehow crashed and is in hangars for years, refusing to come out but now, finally after many years, it might fly at the end of the year with bandages possibly.

Now, after growing up, passing on some offers from flying schools, deciding to become a software engineer and now realizing, it's actually becoming real, it's a weird feeling.

Temel Kotil loves to talk about KAAN, a very nice interview things we already now. But nice to watch it. From 3:26 he is talking about Gokhan missile, but call it Meteor. Side bays are for Gokhan missile confirmed, and he is talking about 200km range? I do not understand it well but sounds like 200km.

If Kotil had Fly computer, actuator for the flaps and landing geras it would already flew :D. They are waiting for these parts...

Kaan is faking big...

If they modify GÖKDOĞAN's rear fins like with AIM-120D, they probably can. I'll take a chance and measure. Would be glad if someone gave the width per bay

If you measure it by taking into account the perspective and proportioning, you can reach figures such as the most pessimistic +160 and the most optimistic almost 200 cm. I think the net width from the inner wall of the weapon bay must be around 180ish- may be 190cm. Also there is another thing, if the parallel shoulders in the weapon bay also indicate the approximate depth of the station, this means that this aircraft can carry all the weapon systems in the inventory and another two dozen or so systems planned to be taken into inventory in the near future, at least in the form of 2+2.

Whether 4 BVRs will fit in parallel (diagonally 1 up and 1 down) or not, I leave the maths to you. However, if I humbly know one thing about the Turkish air force, it is that our staff has a firm and consistent stubbornness to make everything go uphill.

From my point of view, it is certain that this aircraft can carry at least 4 XXXL menus. Every guidance system you can think of with MK81, or heavy cruise missiles, AShms... Probably up to two dozen SDBs in a single sortie...

Don't get too hung up on BVR missiles. There will be not only missiles on the wings of this aircraft, but also aggressive manoeuvring machines. KE, Super Lightning are all extensions of the KAAN concept and also express the capacity to lift extra missiles for KAAN.

Bozdogan I have seen diameter figure of 160mm. AIM 120 is around 170-180. A/B variants have a wingspan of 1 foot 9 so 53 cm, C has 1 foot 5 so 43 cm.
