Kotil: Price per Plane will be just under $100m

This will be most like the price for once it goes into FRP. LRIP will be double that. Price could be pushed down further with orders from third party costumers. But atm I don't see any real viable costumers.

That's expensive, I hope we can get some foreign partner or orders, so we can push that price down.

Not really if we you realise that the only costumer will be TurAF at the beginning from outlook and that only 24 planes will be produces per year. I expected it to be around $120-$150m per plane to be honest. TFX was always gonna be an expensive endeavour, keeping the cost per plane just under $100m sounds like an miracle to me. With other Costumers we can maybe push it down to ~$80-$90m.

We need big orders, like countries that will buy several dozen if not even over a hundred of them if we really want to push the price down under $80m.

Of course and the F-35, just as the F-16 has done before it, benefits from huge orders the USAF has placed on it. That is also why there is such a big fear by other countries about the price of the F-35 in case the USAF cuts its orders down by 50% to divert resources to their NGAD.

That is the only reason Price-per-Plane for the F-35 is ~$70m. Now compare it with the F-22 which only got about 200 orders by the USAF and costed around ~$200m in the beginning and around $140m towards the end of its production cycle.

But that goes off-topic.

We should be happy with just an 8 figure number for the TFX if they can really make it. 😅

Is it purchased from a domestic company? Before they said they were going to make this machine themselves.

They are buying a 50.000 core new computer for simulations.
It will be less than 5 full years before it flies.

ANKARA, Turkey — A Ukrainian engine will power Turkey’s new Atak II-class T929 helicopter, the head of Turkish Aerospace Industries announced Monday in a TV interview, during which he also identified the price of the future TF-X fighter jet as $100 million per unit.

Temel Kotil said the 11-ton T929, a heavier version of the T129, will be powered by a twin turboshaft 2,500-horsepower engine made in Ukraine. He did not give any further details on the engine, but said the T929 will make its maiden flight in 2023.

The T929 is Turkey’s second homemade helicopter gunship after the T129, which TAI produces under license from the Italian-British company AgustaWestland. It’s expected to be able to carry a 1,500-kilogram payload, and perform combat, reconnaissance, surveillance, close-air support and escort missions. TAI plans to equip it with target-tracking and imaging systems, electronic warfare technology, navigation systems, communication systems, and weapons.

The CEO also said the TF-X, Turkey’s firs indigenous fighter jet in the making, will make its maiden flight in 2025, with plans for the aircraft to enter the Turkish Air Force’s inventory in 2029. He added that the TF-X will come at a cost of $100 million per unit.

TAI will produce two TF-X aircraft per month, hoping to generate $2.4 billion in annual revenue from its fighter jet program. At present, Kotil said, 1,000 of TAI’s 4,000 engineers are working on the TF-X program.

it entered phase 2, prototyp is being developed. First it will be used in F16 modernization and then it will be used in TFX. in 2023 will be ready first prototype.

I think it will be pretty capable my guess is it will be liquid cooled GAN AESA at least as good as AN/APG-77.
Both AN/APG-77 and AN/APG-81 do not utilise T/R GAN modules.

I like the T-FX and if it is successful it will likely be the best fighter in the Middle East. I think countries without shitty relations should buy it from Turkey in the Middle East.

Tunisia, and Qatar are the most likely in the Middle East region but who knows who Turkey will be close with in 10 years considering how malleable the politics of the Middle East are.
