I did'nt like it. Kartal is much better. In terms of both being easy to pronounce and its meaning. We have never used this name in big projects of defence sector.

"Istikbal" is a famous furniture brand in Turkey. I don't think it will ever be "Istikbal". If this name is given, it will be the subject of a lot of jokes and humiliation of the project on social media. I hope they don't give it that name. (n)

It seems MMU is named TF-23 İstikbal (translates as future). It is a reference to the famous words of Atatürk. İstikbal göklerdedir (The future is in the skies).
İt's Arabic word . Arabic countries could buy or invest in.

I guess they could do this just for this. Mindless opposition trolls jumps blindly and yet another "kayıkçı kavgası" begin.

We should really depoliticize defence industry fast.

Honestly
I would prefer it to be named Istiklal which translates to independence! It will translate to the cumulation of the years of suffering and discrimination the turks suffered only for them to build their beacon of hope.... the istiklal

Moreover, it sounds cool in english as well.... TF-Independence seems like a cool name

If it's going to be a multi-syllable word, I hope it won't be istikbal (Future) as this is an Arabic word استقبال
Instead something like Karabasan (Nightmare) or Yildirim (Thunder) otherwise a single or double syllable word
e.g. Kurt, Börü, Bürküt, Kartal, Eren etc.

What do these words sound like in Turkish?:

Avenger
Devastator
Dauntless

i.e rather than objects/animals/deities etc.... a direct action concept

(Yes I'm a big pacific war nerd too hehe :D )

Kurt is a solid candidate BTW. So is the dauntless. @Nilgiri
I'd also like the name Göktürk, as a close 2nd to my preferred choice down there.⬇️

They’ll give it a technical name and attach “-23” to it. That’s for certain.

The question is whether it’ll be TF or AK in the front.

What is dauntless or fearless in Turkish though?

Should go with TF.

AK will just cause some confusion with Russian firearms etc.

Should go with S "Savaşcı" (Means fighter in Turkish) or F. I dont see Americans named their aircraft AF (American Figther).
