This guy is the NR1 enemy of Turks, he will do whatever he can. Greek and Armenian combined behind him

"The Senator met with Nikos Anastasiadis where the latter honored him with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III. The couple had moved to Athens before visiting Cyprus. The 54-year-old businesswoman accompanied the chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee to the Athens city hall where the mayor Kostas Bakoyannis awarded him the Medal of the City of Athens.

A love story

" I didn't know he was a senator. He was very intelligent and had a great sense of humor," she had characteristically said, referring to their acquaintance as emphasized by the New York Times. For his part, the American senator had stated that she was " beautiful and bright and had such a great personality. There was just that aura about her."

After years they met again and started dating. "Bob told me that I'll know when he's going to propose because of a certain song he's going to sing when the time comes," the 54-year-old businesswoman said, according to the New York Times.

"Will you marry me" , the senator asked her. Nadine Arsalian with tears in his eyes answered in the affirmative and then Robert Menendez took out a ring and told her that "if you keep crying I won't be able to wear it" . Immediately after that he kissed her while the people who watched this particular scene burst into applause. The couple got married on October 3, 2020. It should be noted that the New York Times included this particular marriage proposal in their " favorite " stories.

Unfortunately Menendez has the power to veto this sale. So without him on Turkish side the sale of F16 package is a nonstarter.
We should immediately purchase 20-40 Typhoons from UK and place an order for 60 new T4 Typhoons with an option for a further 20-40.
Let USA sort out their internal politics themselves.
The Ozgur modernisation should gain momentum immediately in line with this and block 40 planes should also be included in the modernisation, in a move to show we mean business. Our only stumbling block at the moment is the Aselsan’s Aesa radar. They have been moving the goalpost for delivery on that for too long now. They need to get a move on!
How come he has veto power there?

AS THE FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN
Decisions are made by the vote of majorities in committees. Only President can veto at the very end. At least, this is how things work in democracies. I am guessing the source of the news wrote it wrong, it is Sözcü by the way.

If the sale of Eurofighter materializes, then it would be better to cancel the request for the F-16s as a middle finger. They don't want to sell it to Turkiye ? Fine, Turkiye will buy another jet somewhere else, screw them lol.

That story is as fake as greater Armenia.

ANCA bribed him with a wife. Literally everyone in DC knows this. It is an open secret.

Not only that Mendenez is one of the most corrupt Senators. Taking him serious is a mistake engaging with him is a mistake.

he will toe the party line or he will be punished.
He is not above the Party and the leader of the party which is the POTUS.

Off top of my head (so I might have gotten something wrong):

Veto is used loosely here. Yes technically the commitee can vote against what the commitee chair position is.....but it is very rare given he essentially acts as the whip for his party within the commitee and will have bipartisan bridging role with opposition party.

The more important thing is he tables and prioritises what the committee chooses to hear and work on (to then bring to senate to vote), there are many delay tactics a chair can use*....essentially he can veto.

If he has bias/animus toward particular country, democrat party already knew that. This is after all a substantial enough position of power. So responsibility in the end for the policy contouring done in this commitee ultimately rests with Democrat party.

This matter (of things like chairman autocracy) was a lot worse before the cold war when the US adopted the legislative reorganisation acts (one in 1946 and one in 1970 iirc) that prompted introduction of number of committee reforms (in both house and senate). This process iirc also stalled in the 1980s. That is all a long story to get into, but chairpeople still retain a number of privileged powers in their commitees.

*Extreme cases back in the day in US commitee (notorious) autocrats was similar phenomenon to how stalin centralised power as party secretary by simply controlling party agenda + prioritisation + access to Lenin etc...the party secretary was seen as fairly mundane weak position in hierarchy before him...and that would change drastically.

Menendez is a corrupt politician. He gets paid by lobbies. There are many news on internet about this.
He married an Armenian woman also. So there is no way he would defend USA interests at all

If lobbying is so easy as to put money in front of these corrupt entities, what is stopping Turkey doing it? Turkey spent 3 billion dollars on the s400, for 3 billion dollars according to what i see the greeks/armenians spend comparatively should buy out the entire american government.

Likewise if its this easy, then the USA could buyout the entire Turkish government with exceptional ease. They wouldn't need to manipulate us with threats, embargoes or sanctions.

The lobbying exists but its predominantly used as the smokescreen, what's happening towards Turkey is part of USA foreign policy, they want it to happen.

Turkiye is planning to create a similar F16/F4 duo fighter/bomber fleet with F16V/Eurofighter and in this way, total dependence on the US source and congress approvals will be avoided and the capabilities of a twin-engine delta wing plane will be utilized.

According to @DefenceTurkey, Turkiye is negotiating and UK is offering 20 Eurofighter Tranche-1 second hand with source codes + 60 Tranche-3/4 brand-new fighters + TEMPEST cooperation. If it happens, an enormous fleet structure will be created until TFX reach full operational capabilities by 2035-2040

TEMPEST+TF-X??

That would make TurAF one of the strongest in the future, combined with all the unmanned jets, old F-16s, EFs, and UAVs

Tempest cooperation is new.
This opens up new prospects.

60 new aircraft, MMU and later industrial collaboration at Tempest. The UK offers a 50-year strategic partnership.

Turkiye has a strong industrial potential, and more importantly, it is one of NATO's largest military assets and must always maintain this deterrence. It is both a large and important market and an important production center. While ties with the USA are gradually weakening, this situation can be an advantage for other countries.

İ agree we must not hold grudges to nations we have had a tough past with as we urgently need to close the gap in our air force, but since the Greek-Kurdish and Armenian lobbies are very dominant in the US, the possibility of doing it with them is very low, leaving Germany, France ,England, İtaly and other small countries that are not worth dealing with . France has already shown its side in the tensions between Greece so there is no point in trying to cooperate with them . Cooperating with the UK ,for the us, is probably the best as they try to maintain a neutral stance in most conflicts so a chance of ambargo is lower compared to other countries diye düşünüyorum

I meant, 'dumb greek ntionalistic rhetoric aside that some politicians use for the home audience, they are by and large seems to me rational actors' from realpolitik perspective.
Your understanding of sentence is completely wrong.

And I only said, from realpolitik perspective it seems to me they don't have any political or economic gain from going to war with turkey. That's it.

I never claimed to be an expert on turkish history, sociology and greece turkish foreign policy dynamic! And I literally added a note that, 'it is only my simple personal opinion. So don't take it too seriously' and yet you got so worked up because i simply just expressed my thought.
Unbelievable!
I never insulted you or anybody in any of my previous post. But it seems you wanna feel insulted anyway.
never mind!
stick with 'superiority complex' if it makes you feel good.
There is a big difference between your nationalists and our nationalists.
Usually a nationalist in the Western world is considered a Neo-Nazi or White Supremacist, dont know how they are in your country.
A Turkish nationalist is a citizen of the Turkish Republic who loves the country and does almost everything for it.
We dont kill each other,we protect each other,no matter the belief be it political, religious or non-religious.
A good friend of mine a Kurd from Urfa(town) is the leader of the MHP(religious Turkish nationalists) branch in Düsseldorf(Germany).
Another friend is a high ranked member of the AKP party in my hometown in Türkiye.
My sparring partner(muayThai) is a member of the CHP party,he is Laz.
They are all nationalists like myself.
So,it doesnt matter if you are Kurdish,Laz,Zaza,Circaussian,Gypsy,Armenian,Assyrian etc you can be a nationalist.
We created this forum for the love we have for our country with everyone in it.
We do not discriminate,we treat every member equally, nobody is above the other.
See the difference?

Btw,i do not support any political party, only the country.
