84-year-old military ship becomes a 'museum'

'TCG Güven', which joined the Turkish navy after being manufactured in Germany in 1937, served as a diver ship and a fire extinguisher ship for many years, and was scrapped in 1987. Businessman Aydoğan Acarer, who owns a maritime company, bought the ship anchored in Kasımpaşa and used it within his own company. Collaborating with the Bodrum Naval Museum, Acarer signed a protocol for the ship to be used as a museum for everyone to see. It is reported that the ship, which will be opened to visitors in the coming months, will serve 6 days a week.

'I SEE THE MUSEUM IDEA ATTRACTIVE'

Stating that the ship will be kept alive with the museum for many years, Aydoğan Acarer said, "This ship was built for the Turkish Navy in Germany in 1937 and delivered in the same year. It first serves as a diving ship and then as a fire fighting ship in the Navy. The ship was moored in front of Kasımpaşa Naval Forces. He used to take me to this ship when I was a kid when I went for a walk with my father. We used to spend time on the ship. Since I have childhood memories on the ship, I followed the ship for many years. After many years of service, it was scrapped in 1987. I bought the scrapped ship, launched it again in 1996, but reset it. "I completely restored it, we made it up to date. The ship is still working. The museum idea proposed by Bodrum Naval Museum Director Selen Cambazoğlu (41) was appealing," he said.

'WE STARTED 2 YEARS AGO'

Providing information about the project, Bodrum Naval Museum Director Selen Cambazoğlu said, "This process started about 2 years ago. Mr. Aydoğan came to visit our museum. This type of cultural heritage items can be put into operation as 'museum ships' in the world. Although there are many examples in the world, examples in our country. It does not exceed 10 fingers. 'Why don't we build a museum?' I said, Mr. Aydogan also found this idea very warm. A ship ready to become a museum with the objects and accessories inside. We started working with Mr. Aydogan in a period of 2 years. We started the museum ship with the project partners Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Bodrum Municipality, Bodrum Chamber of Commerce and Aydoğan Acarer. "We signed a protocol to spend the next month. We plan to open it to visitors in the coming months," he said.

THE GLOBALIZATION OF SHIPPING AND THE NEW SECURITY PARADIGM

Summary
The 21st century has been a period that carries the competitive fields and points of interest of countries to the seas. The interests of global actors in the seas are becoming more important and strategic day by day. In this context, countries integrate their military forces and defense mechanisms into the sea. At this point, while the budget allocated to the navy and navy increases on a global basis, the integration of defense technologies into the seas also increases. The competition points of countries that aim to establish hegemony in the maritime area, such as the USA, China, Russia, India and England, are increasingly overlapping. The South China Sea, the Asia-Pacific line, the Arctic region, and the Eastern Mediterranean are among these intersection points. The development of global energy production in favor of the seas day by day, the transportation of 85% of the goods in the world over the seas,

The fact that more than 70% of the world's capitals are located in coastal areas, 75% of people live in coastal areas, the increase of energy sources obtained from the seas and their diversification with new ones every day strengthen the economic and strategic value of the seas, as well as increase the need for security in these areas. . On the other hand; The developing need for security in the seas concerns not only the states, but also all the private sector and companies operating in the maritime field. E.g; In the field of competition in the Eastern Mediterranean region, not only states and navies, but also energy companies with large budgets appear as actors. At this point, we can see that more than one actor and focus is clustered in the competition in the seas.

All these developments and data reveal that the need for security at sea is increasing. Dozens of different factors, such as the fact that energy resources are obtained over the seas day by day, global communication lines pass through the seas, and the increase of integrated life in the seas with the climate crisis causes the seas to become more and more vital in the care of human life. For this reason, it is obvious that social, political and military life will be more integrated into the seas in the coming years and this will create a new understanding of security.

Guys look at heavily Armed Gowind class corvettes.
RAM plus 16 ESSM!
İ wonder what's the number 3 ( RL launchers)

İmagine as if we put two launchers of LEVENT or Gökdeniz ER in front of ADA Class .

@Anmdt Dear putting two launchers onto foredeck would be reliable ? Direct wave hits could damage the launchers?

Interesting the US is likely to upgrade 4 Hydra class Meko frigates of Hellenic Navy for 2.5 billion $ and Greece is looking to acquire 4 MMSC frigates for 6.9 billion $.

BTW those prices are the maximum prices every term in the deal is confirmed.
With our defense budget shrinking, Greece is purchasing new stuff .
Let's see akp supporters!! We have less than Greece budget and 1/4 of Iran's defense budget!!
Hayaldi gerçek oldu

Turkey is in such a shit position I sometimes wonder why defence spending is not up.

Its ridiculous its been like this for decades. Dont know why akp is shrinking it its suicide due to outside threats.

Ha ha ha 😂 it's a robbery. 2,5 billion USD for modernization!!!
It really doesn't matter. If we don't have more Ada class than what we have now, Mavi Vatan doctrin will be endangered because we TN will be stretched to be everywhere at once.

And with the debt strap we will have to pay back the loans or shut up and suck up violations of Mavi Vatan.

No worries bro our ground launched ATMACA's with 200 km range could waste anyships. Remember it's our EEZ so they will have to come close to Turkish coastal lines.
Also unmanned vessels are to come.

With out budget, you can not plan anything. Everything stays on paper. Due tl devaluation , our defense budget did shrink 60-70 percent just in last month. We don't know to what levels it will shrink in terms of USD in 2022!!
So with out budget, you will get nothing!!

Defence spending has stayed the same it only increased until now. The thing is Turkey never spends big no matter what.

Turkey faces both internal and external threats its pretty fascinating how they did not budge in increasing it to huge amounts.

The defence projects is a long term goal of Turkey. Turkey for decades has went through a shit economy it has changed nothing regarding their military industry.

Its easy to buy stuff rather than build.
