An F35 fighter jet had to make an emergency landing at Bodø airport on Thursday, reported VG newspaper.
Distress signals were sent out just before 2 p.m., the newspaper reported.
Two other planes that were going to land in Bodø had to circle around Meløy, a tipster tells VG.
Communications Manager in the Air Force, Eivind Byre, confirmed the incident to the newspaper. He says that the fighter plane was on its way from Ørland Air Station to Evenes when the situation arose.
"The fighter plane received an error message on the system and made a controlled emergency landing in Bodø just before 2 p.m.," he told the newspaper, adding that the F-35 landed without drama.
The error message is currently being investigated, according to Byre.


The only way to save embarrassment at this rate is just to say they were tested in UAV mode or some shit. I guess these mishaps both happened on the same day?

The F-16 was also a very problematic fighter in it’s early days. Still didn’t stop the beauty to be the most used fighter jet in the world.

When F16s were first introduced they were dropping like flies. Their accidents and problems have been a lot better during the last couple of decades though. To date their average has been 13 planes per year. There are 4500 of them in service. And this amount of yearly loss is considered normal and acceptable.
To throw muck at a plane because it is having teething problems can easily be construed as having sour grapes since we were kicked out of the program, albeit wrongly and illegally. At the moment US and LM are firefighting to iron out all the problems they have with F35. But in time this plane will mature and form the backbone of US’s and Western airforces’ air power. Mechanical and electronic problems can all be resolved in time. Plane is evolving too. Soon it will have a variable cycle engine and a GaN based Aesa radar.
It was the wrong move to opt for S400 rather than this plane. But what is done is done. We need to recover from this mishap and concentrate on our MMU and engine projects. That is where our future military independence lies.

How is that a problem to begin with ?
Look, the MiG-21 are designed mainly as an interceptor fighter. That means for the MiG-21 to climb as fast and as high as possible.

Things such as maneuverability, fuel, wing loading, payload must be sacrificed for it to climb as fast as possible.

Now the F-18 is the most common jack of all trades aircraft. It needed to be able to secure the skies, used as a strike bomber if needed, perform aerial tanker if necessary.

In each of those, the F-18 is not best in what its doing, its not as agile as an F-16, its payload not as big as F-15E etc. But in terms of parameters, it clearly outperforms a MiG-21 in almost all aspect (except maybe climb rate).

The F-35 is just like that, sure there's no problem for Lockheed engineers to design an F-35 solely for the purpose of air dominance, but there's the F-22 for that. Even with all the trade-offs and physical traits sacrifice the F-35 upped those parameters when compared to lets say the F-16. Its more agile than the F-16, it carries more payload than the F-16...etc

So Jack of all trades are not necessarily a bad thing if you keep upgrading the parameters of those airplanes.

You must remember that there are three different F-35s, and all have significantly different roles than others. It is not just an air superiority and ground attack thing. There is no such thing for MMU. Think of it like F-16 started as an air superiority fighter but eventually became a multirole fighter.

"F-35'S UNDER THE STRONG CONTROL OF THE USA"

The pilots, who shared striking information with the blogger, said that the F-35 warplanes, whose independence was questioned, are under the tight control of the USA.

“WE HAVE TO EXPECT THE PASSWORD TO SEND EVERY DAY”

South Korean F-35 pilots, who stated that they could use warplanes with the password coming from the USA, claimed that they had to wait for the passwords to be sent every day.

"WE CAN'T EVEN BOOT WITHOUT PASSWORD"

South Korean soldiers claimed that if the US Air Force did not send the LINK-16 data connection password, they could not boot even if the South Korean army was in combat conditions.

“OUR NATIONAL DEFENSE IS IN THE HANDS OF THE USA”

South Korean soldiers claiming that the F-35s are in the hands of the US "South Korea's national defense is in the hands of the US military because of the US high command. The US does not seem to treat this important ally like a human." he said.

Good thing we didn't buy this plane. It does more harm than good.

We were officially going to buy a plane to serve the USA with our own money.

Except for just random bloggers, the only other post I found that mentions anything like it is this Quora post, which explains it and seems reasonable that passwords are required to start the aircraft.

If I wanted to start the engine on an F-35 fighter jet, what would I need? Does it use a key fob or have a push to start button like a car?

F35 is a stilborne fighter project, a zombi fighter. Customers expected a baby but they got a doll instead. One that needs to be charged by the vendor everytime you want to play.
