Losing the F-35s was a big blow to our air force but you need to understand that since we are at the point of no return, many of us try to find the silver lining out of that debacle. That being the acceleration of the TFX and the power packs; The concentration on our UCAV capabilities etc.

You fail to see that embargoes have always backfired to our favour regarding our defence industry and the shortcomings of the F-35 especially having the reigns in US hands have been repeatedly discussed before we got kicked out of the program.

I would've loved to see the F-35 in the Turkish Air Force but since that ship has sailed, maybe we should be thankful that we haven't just sat there and lamented the decision. Instead, our companies are working as hard as humanly possible to close that gap.
