There’s not going to be a downgraded F35 the only thing Saudi F35 will miss compared to Israeli F35 is the Israeli EW suite (which only Israel has for its own jets) and the access to the source Code which only the US and Israel have. But it basically be the same jet the Americans and the rest use. Overall effectiveness of these high tech weapons drops significantly when they are used by these Arab nations simply because they lack the quality in personnel. There is not going to be a software limitation LM is happy enough that there are no (more) problems with it.

You know why because they dont build their own stuff and pay inflated prices for weapon systems from the USA and Europe not to mention the factors from training, maintence, strategies and tactics.

We should stay away from the F-35 from the simple reason that this flying iPad with missiles is 100% in control of USA. Thus selling the plane to the Saudis is no biggie. If they (Saudis) misbehave, the us can just activate the kill switch. It's naive to think it doesn't have such a feature.

That flying iPad as you call it, is a masterpiece and technologically the most developed fighter aircraft currently in use. As per @YusufKnight ‘s post just above, even if you have a slightly downgraded version of this plane you will still get so much technical information that it will open your horizons when fighting against airforces that already use it as well as help you develop technologies without much guesswork.
That advantage alone is worth having them in spite of any possible downsides the plane comes with.

These planes don’t need to have a kill switch. They need continuous supply of very high tech spares (not like F14 or F5 need). They can not be operated if you don’t have specifically integrated US made munitions in hand.
So only thing US needs to do is stop shipping parts. Then you have very expensive museum pieces in your inventory that you can only watch and admire.

Buying these in excess of 100 pieces would have been the stupid thing to do. But a squadron or maximum 2 will be the right thing to do though. Especially when we have KAAN coming along in the pipeline.

Kill switch is if you are lucky, if the plane receives "kill order" it can attack you becoming assassins, fleets of enemy planes inside your defenses.

I think it is entirely possible that US Western weapon systems have technical barriers that prevent pilots from attacking certain targets – such as American or possibly Israeli ones – or that their effective deployment is deliberately prevented. However, I think it would be extremely difficult to prove whether something like this is actually possible via a frequency or code mechanism during flight – if such a thing even exists.

On the other hand, classic maintenance and logistics blockades are undisputed: without spare parts, software updates and approvals, aircraft and weapon systems simply remain grounded, even if they are still technically available.

There were also reports of an incident in which a German frigate in the Middle East attempted to intercept an unknown drone. Since the Germans were apparently not informed that it was a US drone – presumably from a secret mission (Black Ops maybe) – they attempted to engage the target with interceptor missiles. At least two or three interception attempts with US missiles are said to have failed. Whether this was due to technical, tactical or other reasons has never been officially clarified.

You don't need to look back to realized examples, you need to look at what is possible. The fact that there is not a precedence means absolutely nothing. There will be an opportune moment in the future when sacrificing reliability to the immediate gains to be made will be reasonable then the sky will start to fall which is when you don't want to be under it.
