Exactly. During Operation Barbarossa they lost more men than during the whole First World War, but they didnt give a damn. A normal administration with so much losses would be regime changed immediatly.

Russia have also done very little on the side of crushing dissent, there's protests in many occupied towns in Ukraine. 200,000 troops is a lot but it's not enough when you're fighting against a force of around 240,000 (and growing). I think in order to hold territory and control it you need to at least have more troops than your enemy.Despite heavy losses, the Russians are making real progress. Ukraine has a lot of work to do to take those lands back. They must take the initiative/offense instead of defence/reaction.
On the other hand, Russia lost so much, that soon they wont have equipment to hold the territories.
