This guy went through the Navy Seal in the United States, later served in the UDT, a special Korean unit, and was in Somalia from 2009 to 2010 and dispatched to Iraq from 2016 to 2017. I want to applaud the courage of this man who is making a lot of issues in Korea now. I hope he comes back alive.

But there are many issues in South Korea because of this guy. Currently, the Korean government has designated Ukraine as a travel ban country. This man did not officially participate in the Ukrainian war on behalf of the Korean military, but made his own decision without obtaining permission from the government and went to Ukraine. If this person is taken hostage, the Korean government is responsible for saving this person. So some Koreans are accusing this man of being irresponsible.

Not long ago, Ukraine officially requested support for South Korea's military weapons through the Ukrainian Embassy in South Korea. However, the Korean government could not meet this request. There are many reasons for this, and Korea has currently provided $10 million in relief supplies to Ukraine and will provide additional support. It also imposed economic sanctions, including a ban on exports of strategic materials and semiconductors to Russia.

Another reason is that if South Korea provides Ukraine with Military weapons, diplomatic relations between South Korea and Russia could worsen. The Korean Peninsula is geographically very close to Russia, so I don't know if you know it, but North Korea borders China and Russia. This means that if the Korean Peninsula is later unified, it cannot be free from the influence of China and Russia.

Yup complicated issue as expected behind the scenes.

Regarding the potential hostage situation (or rescue and repatriation process that arises from any scenario)...I would think ROK govt ought to provide all assistance as normal to its citizen in such situation.

But in this case since he violated a travel ban etc (by his own volition), you simply fine him for the costs incurred in that afterwards (in say legal proceeding), rather than pass them on to Korean taxpayer (given the due diligence of travel ban done by govt in first place to give coverage under).

US estimates Russian military has lost 8% to 10% of military assets used in invasion of Ukraine, official says

"The US estimates that as much as 8% to 10% of Russian military assets used in the invasion of Ukraine is now destroyed or inoperable, according to a US official familiar with the latest intelligence.

The equipment lost includes tanks, aircraft, artillery and other military assets. That is close to double the losses that CNN reported last week when it was estimated Russia had lost 3% to 5% of its military assets.

The US estimates the Ukrainian military has lost a similar percentage of its assets, the official said."

Guys, whenever I come here to read some comments about the war, I see nothing but copy+paste news.

We can already follow the news through other platforms. Please share less news and more personal comments.

My experience is actually the other way around. I find great analysis on mainstream media such as Sky News, NBC News, CNN, DM, etc - but they lack the recent, plentiful and raw footage that Twitter provides. And this forum is great at giving a summary of what Twitter users are posting (information not easily found via a search engine).
