We're all self-interested. Ukraine's existence as a nation and an identity is at stake. Of course they're ready and willing to shed their blood in defense of their own survival. As long as they're willing to fight and bleed, we're willing o give them to tools and support they need to push back the aggressor.

Make no mistake about this. The Russo-Ukrainian war is not the fault of ANYONE but Russia. They chose to launch an invasion towards their neighbour, out of fear that they were falling further under Western influence. And this isn't the first time they've tried to bully one of their neighbour's. Recent history tells of that Russia has no problem warring with neighbours that have little chance of defending themselves.

Putin is a bully. The way you stop a bully is by punching him in the face as soon as he threatens you. Ukraine (with support from their friends) are the fist that's punching back. The West chose Ukraine to support because we think they're worth our time and resources. We think think they can actually win and deserve every chance to prove that.

I have no doubt that war will come to Canada again some day. I hope that when that time comes, Canadians will be as brave in defense of our country as Ukrainians have been, theirs. I also hope our allies will be with us, like we, collectively, have been for Ukraine.

Westerners are no better / worse than anyone else. We're self-interested. Russia's demise as Europe's bully is in the West's best interest. That's why we're supporting Ukraine's defense. Make no mistake. People in the Eastern part of world are every bit as selfish and self-interested as we are. People have been killing each other for centuries on your side of the world.

"the filthiest, damn bully usa and his gang. Of course, the Russians are second. Yes, everyone thinks of their own interests. But the east of the world does not make the innocent fight, it tries not to shed blood, it looks for a solution in another way. but you westerners do not take into account human or religious values. You make nations, people, countries fight ruthlessly for your interests, or you attack under the name of democracy and human rights nonsense. Ukraine, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, Africa etc. Your most innocent crimes are economic ones. But one day you will pay for these crimes. (Pkk, ypg, daesh, dhkp-c, al-Qaeda, al-Shabaab, Fetö etc.)"

Please. This is the shortest term memory ever. You folks in the East have been invading each other, killing each other and doing horrible things to each other since before many of the nations in the West even existed. Who do you think we learned how to be awful to other people from?

Just recently...

Russo-Chechnya war (twice), Russo-Georgia war, Stalin's extermination of 40-60 million of his own people, the disaster in Libya, the ongoing disaster in Syria, Russia's shadow wars in Africa, North Caucasus, The Russia-Dagestan war, Tajikistani Civil war, Transnistrian war, Tajikistani war, Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, Labanese Civil War... I can make this a much longer paragraph if need be.

The people of the Eastern part of the world are every bit as self-interested, barbaric and savage as us Westerners. We're all of the same species. None of us is / are special. We're all afflicted by the same human conditions. I have no doubt that the collective "we" will pay for our "crimes" some day. But the beautiful thing is that we have every opportunity to fight for our interests, and against those whose we disagree with, along the way. If people want to take what's ours, they can pry it from our cold, dead hands. And if they manage to do so, so be it. They will have won the battle of self-interested parties. Props to them.

I'm sorry, but I'm not talking about fighting face to face with dignity, I'm talking about dividing nations, making each other attack, making war and exploiting it treacherously. Or, I'm talking about attacking because there are chemical weapons here insidiously, or to bring democracy. Also, if you want to investigate how Saddam was tricked by the west in the Kuwait attack.

We are all humans we all come from barbaric origins hence why we fight each other and are driven by self interests its because thats how we survived.

Even if we live in the modern world full of technology and civilisation.

Instincts cant be easily gone.

“Divide et impera” is from the Roman times. Nothing new about this.

While the battle for Bakhmut will be over relatively soon, with Russian Forces (mostly Wagner) controlling approximately 80% of the city, can we all take a second to appreciate how long the Ukrainian defense of the city has lasted, and how long it fixed Russian troops in place for? It's cost Russia an unimaginable amount if resources to take to small city, which is of extremely small strategic value. Meanwhile, they've actually lost more net territory elsewhere since January, leading to a net loss of land thus far in 2023.

What's worse for Russia is what's ahead for them after Bakhmut Ukraine has had months to prepare the depth of defenses along the Chasic Yar line, which is much easier to supply from the fortress that is Kramtorsk. If Russia tries to advance beyond Bakhmut, the casualties are going to start getting inexplicable.

6x M109A6 Paladin, 155mm self-propelled howitzers (USA)
12x FH-70, 155mm towed howitzers (Estonia)

After getting a sneak peak of what each brigade is scheduled to get, we see that not all of the equipment donated by the West since January is going to the new brigades. A good number of the armored systems are going to existing brigades, who need new equipment to replace what they've lost. The 92nd, 93rd and 72nd Brigades have all been fighting, consistently, since the outset of the war. They'll definitely be getting "new toys" as well. But how much of the recently committed Western aid is not accounted for in the above brigades? The answer is quite a bit...

Below is a list of MBTs, IFVs, APCs, and artillery that has been committed since January, but will be finding homes in existing brigades, rather than the newly formed ones.

Main Battle Tanks
31x Abrams M1A1 MBTs (USA)
7x Leopard 2A6 MBTs (Germany / Portugal)
10x Leopard 2A5 MBTs (Sweden
4x Leopard 2A4 MBTs (Canada)
8x Leopard 2A4 MBTs (Norway)
10x Leopard 2A4 MBTs (Spain)
3-6x Leopard 2A4 MBTs (Finland)
14x Leopard 2A4 MBTs (Norway / The Netherlands)
5x Leopard 2A4 MBTs (Greece)- Still requires confirmation
45-55x T-72 MBTs (USA / Netherlands)
80-100x Leopard 1 MBTs (Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands)

Infantry Fighting Vehicles / Armored Fighting Vehicles
50x CV-90 IFVs (Sweden)
10x M2 ODS Bradley IFVs (USA)
100-200x Rosomak IFVs (Poland)
16x AMX-10RC (France)
20x Fennek IFVs (The Netherlands)
20x Valuk APCs (Slovenia)

Armored Personnel Carriers and MRAPS
20x M113 APCs (Spain)
250x M117 APCs (USA)
200x Roshel Senators (Canada)
100-150x Kirpi MRAPs (Turkey)
37x Cougar MRAPs (USA)
?? Oshkosh M-ATVs (USA)

Artillery and Heavy Mortars
12x AS-90, 155mm self-propelled howitzers (Britain)
19x CAESAR, 155mm self-propelled howitzers (Denmark)
8x Archer, 155mm self-propelled howitzers (Sweden)
24x shKH Zuzana 2, 155mm self-propelled howitzers (Slovakia)
5x M113, 81mm / 120mm heavy mortars (Spain)
24x RAK, 120mm heavy mortars (Poland)
?? M777, 155mm towed howitzers (USA)

As we can see, there is a A LOT of armor and artillery that will be distributed among Ukraine's existing brigades. It WILL not all be horded by their new assault brigades.

Per Reuters, USA will announce a new $1.2 Billion USD aid package for Ukraine tomorrow, in response to Russia's May 9th celebration. The package will include, but is not limited to air defense systems, counter drone weaponry, various types of ammunition, access to satellite technology and funds for training. The package will be procured from industry, through the USAI funding, rather than by using Presidential Drawdown Authority.
