Russia conducts army readiness checks

Within a month alone, the Russian army will conduct more than four thousand exercises throughout the country.

The Russian Ministry of Defense is conducting control checks of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, said on Tuesday, April 6, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, writes TASS.


"In accordance with the plan for the training of the armed forces, control checks have begun in the military command and control bodies, formations and military units. So, during April, 4048 exercises of various scales will be held, including 812 bilateral ones, at 101 training grounds and 520 facilities of the training and material base.

The exercises take place on the territory of all military districts and the Northern Fleet, as well as in the regions of the Far North, the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka.

All types and branches of the armed forces are subject to checks.

Zelensky and NATO Secretary General discussed Donbass


The head of state said that an action plan for membership in the Alliance would become a deterrent for Russia, and NATO is the only way to end the war in Donbass.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed the exacerbation of the situation in Donbass by phone. This was announced on Tuesday, April 6, by the press service of the President's Office.

"In recent weeks, we have seen a very dangerous trend towards an increase in the number of ceasefire violations by the Russian occupation forces and the number of Ukrainian defenders killed," Zelensky said.

Zelensky also thanked the Secretary General for the Alliance's attention to the security of the situation around Ukraine and called on NATO member states to pay more attention to security issues in the Black Sea and to strengthen their military presence in the Black Sea region.

"Such a permanent presence should become a powerful factor in deterring Russia, which continues to massively militarize the region and impedes merchant shipping," Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.

The head of the Ukrainian state noted that the most pressing issue for Ukraine in relations with NATO is the possibility of obtaining a Membership Action Plan (MAP) in the Alliance.

“We are supporters of reforming our army and defense sector, but reforms alone cannot stop Russia. NATO is the only way to end the war in Donbass,” Zelenskiy said, adding that the MAP would be a real signal for Russia.

Never said they're a pushover. I think you need to gain airpower over them if you want to overcome shitload of artillery, barages of missiles, MLRS rockets, all probably drone guided by now,raining down on your ground forces.

They should send their whole army then to get rid of "soviet junk".

Russian army's inventory is still composed in majority of "soviet era junk" (although modernized). Russia's main tank is the T72,main IFV is the BMP2 and their main APC is the BTR80/82A. Same goes with artillery,air defence.....

Their ground platforms programs were so much delayed and became unaffordable to field in great numbers. Remember,they were supposed to field 2300 Armata tanks in 2020....

Kursk disaster has to be one of their worst.

I watched a documentary about it how the families of deceased submarine sailors got silenced is tragic not to mention how they could have been saved.
