What is the use of an Aluminium hull in an unmanned vehicle?
What is the use of an Aluminium hull in an unmanned vehicle?
Aluminum has much more less magnetic signature compared to the conventional shipbuilding steel, not nearly zero as the composites.Alumi
Aluminium hull for ASW/minehunting missions? I guess that increases magnetic and acoustic signature A LOT! @Anmdt can you enlighten us ?
If it is not composite at that size, the only way out is either to use wood or aliminum. What is the use of an Aluminium hull in an unmanned vehicle?
Aluminum increases the magnetic signature? Lol.Alumi

I guess the main weapon for anti submarine USV's will be ORKA.

Soldier Robot Dolphins, which are produced by İbak Savunma Sanayi Anonim Şirketi, a subsidiary of IBAK Holding, with domestic and national means and can carry explosive and useful loads, will have the appearance, speed and agility of real dolphins, thanks to biomimetic technology, inspired by the Afalina dolphin species that is frequently seen in Turkish territorial waters. they were designed that way.
The Biomimetic Unmanned Marine Vehicle, which will perform the tasks of Reconnaissance, Observation, Search and Rescue, Intelligence, Attack and Defense, singly or in a swarm, communicates in encrypted form with the sounds of the Afalina herd in the natural life. Thanks to the special outer coating used in its design, autonomous Military Robotic Dolphins, which are a miracle of artificial intelligence, can withstand high pressure and can provide full-time information flow among themselves and with the Command Center.
It is not possible to detect robots, which cannot be distinguished from real dolphins, by underwater and surface systems, since they are produced without using propellers or similar propulsion units while preserving their natural appearance.

A strange issue going on within the Navy:
The navy aims to have a unified communications for unmanned operations for WVR applications, and aims to control unmanned systems through common satellite terminals that are also used for numerous duties, and a commonized console - fully integrated to the operations room and CMS application for the unmanned systems.
However, one particular company disobeys and enforces their own consoles (' developed by them' ), not even running on the same OS core as the ships' CMS runs on, moreover not really compatible to the ships communications systems thus the satellite terminals.
That particular company also introduces their own (through a solution partner of them) satellite terminals and communication terminals.
Neither their consoles or terminals are qualified for naval applications and environment, or is not compliant with rules that govern electronic systems application on the ships. They also neglect a request on qualification and certification of the naval application.
They use some burecracy and high rank middle man to get their demands pass through by ignoring Navy's rulebook on integration for unmanned systems on naval platforms.
Navy's demands are clear:
The system should be fully compatible with CMS and the core OS it runs on.
The system should be fully compatible with satellite terminals inherited by the ship, and should be compatible with communication systems installed on the dedicated mast, here optionally the company may use already available communication systems, or install theirs with the requirement of being compatible and being able to be controlled-integrated by the CMS
The operator consoles should be compatible with the operations room of the ship ( standard console size of the navy), or preferrably, already available multi-purpose consoles should be used for this purpose. Navy prefers to use multi-purpose consoles on several duties and eventually commonalize all USV operations through them, but for sake of the limited time, the unmanned systems suppliers are allowed to integrare their own consoles with the necessity of being qualified and certified.
Lastly, all data that can be transmitted to operations center of the unmanned system should be also able to be transferred and controlled through the CMS.
These should be satisfied by the following years so that the Turkish navy will be ready for the future of network enabled warfare.
Safe to claim that ADVENT integration is coming to the UAVs and USVs that is already delivered or going to be delivered to Turkish Naval Forces.ADVENT and Unmanned Vehicles
Originally developed for reconnaissance and intelligence, UAVs are now deployed for many missions including assaults. With a wide array of capabilities, UAVs have become more adaptable and effective to execute main missions such as intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and maritime security, as well as others including prevention of human trafficking by sea, search and rescue activities, and relay for communications.
UAVs entail a constant flow of accurate data to contribute to a mission success and boost its efficacy. This may include a wide range of data sets such as area, meteorological, and track data, and positional data of allies and adversaries, and the range of their radar and weapons. This also serves the purpose of making operational plans for UAVs, assigning targets and missions in the most effective way possible, establishing coordination among a swarm of UAVs, and updating mission priorities and operational limitations depending on changing situations.ADVENT CMS is currently capable of collecting, processing, and transferring any data required by UAVs. In the similar vein, ADVENT CMS offers a great deal of planning and control capabilities to assist UAV operations. The integration of UAV Ground Control Stations into ADVENT CMS will make the operational gains much more effective.
Maybe they will show how the basic variant of ULAQ can deploy a dipping sonar?Tomorrow interview with ARES/Meteksan discussing ULAQ will be aired on Youtube
