Talking about politics
In Japan, there are unwritten rule to be politicians, it requires three-bans; Jiban, Kanban and Kaban.
Jiban means supporter base and this one is very important especially for LDP that always on top of Diet since 50s. This one needed in more rural region, where people there tend to less political, they care nothing about ideology. And to get this you don’t need to push ideological themes to them, then come the Koenkai. Koenkai in Indonesia equal to relawan, you just recruited as much Koenkai as you can and berikan kehadiranmu by Koenkai.
Kanban means your personal branding. Use this for more ideological voters, usually urban areas. You know the drill.
And Kaban means money. You need money to maintain your jiban and kanban.
And if using the word Korea of Bambang Pacul, the most Korea of all was Kakuei Tanaka. Tanaka was a tukang or kuli at his early life, but a pejabat of certain company that the building his worked with met him and turns to like him, he then became a drafter (civil engineering) without adequate educational background. Then he married daughter of successful businesswoman whom inherited her husband’s construction company which he owned after.
Even though he was resigned from Prime Minister after Lockheed bribery scandal, he still maintained a big Koenkai he had, that if politicians wanted to win, it was logical to be closed with him. This made him as powerbroker and called as Shadow Shogun in Japan. He known to had the image of gangster like and had so many things that almost (and it were) touched the unethical practices.
