MoU was signed at IDEF 2019 with Caterpillar UK for the development of a powerpack made of a V12 1200hp diesel engine and Allison X1100-5A3 transmission for Firtina-II SPH. Turkey choose another company though (Ukraine?) and the new engine is to be completed this year and tested on the Firtina-II next year.
According to some sources, a contract with Ivchenko-Progress will soon be singed for cooperation in the development of the TF-X turbofan engine.

It was before the UTKU engine apparently.

Cooperation with Ivchenko-Progress means we do not want to depend on GE or RR.

Ivchenko Progress is a design bureau. Very much like our TR Motor. They have no means of production. More importantly, the production facility, Motor Sich, that is supposed to produce engines designed by Ivchenko Progress, has not produced a new design since the collapse of Soviets. Therefore feasibility and usefulness of any collaboration with Ivchenko Progress, to say the least, is questionable.
The only positive note I can say on the matter is; A second pair of eyes and a different viewpoint with past, but questionable up to date, experience can be an advantage.
@TheInsider has made a valid point!
They may learn more from us rather than the other way round.

They have ready off-the-shelf engines that belong to the Soviet era. Some of them are decent(Al-322, TV3/VK-2500, I don't like Al-450) and can be used if no western alternative is available.

Other than that we can outsource some work packages to them. We might get design help. Maybe procure some materials/alloys from them. But they have no next-generation tech like 3D additive manufacturing, single-crystal turbine blades, etc.

Why not mix them up? I mean upgrading old sovjet engine with state of the art Turkish knowledge? We will have in no time an decent engine.

Ukrainians don't want to, and it is end of the story. They have even hesitated to share certain marine gas turbine know-how(in a quite limited framework just to place it in a box and design integration) to make integration possible on future warships and abandoned.

Thats a chance they throw it away, it would be win win for both side. They could compete Western companies, in the end when we mature our engine program we will not need them.

TEI is one of the two companies in the world that can produce the compressor section as a single piece. It is done with the production of single-piece bladed disks (blisks) and welding them together with inertia welding to manufacture a single-piece compressor section. The other company with this capability is GE Cincinnati.

As of 2017 TEI can produce everything in a modern turbine engine(excluding single crystal blades) within its own production facilities.
It seems like everything is coming together in the manufacturing/production part of the engine. We will see more from TEI in this decade as the design team accumulates more experience.

I have also heard from my sources that "multiple" engine cores are in design in different classes. There are also "multiple" projects with TRMotor.

A hybrid engine and an engine with higher HP output(likely 300+ HP) are in the works in the combustion engines section. There are also different variants of current combustion engines that are optimized for different altitudes, missions etc. ( PD-180ST)
Several small turbine engine projects are going on.
TS-3000 studies continue.
TF-6000 project with TRMotor continues.
TEI is also co-developing the TF-X engine with TRMotor.

300+ HP engine must be a piston engine.
At roughly around 350hp the piston engine loses its advantages and turbine engines become preferred.

We need to start making electric aviation motors too.

- National Turbojet to be added to the engine new

- Acceptance and closing activities for KTJ-3200
- KALE Arge, advanced Turbojet engines and smaller dimensions are working on new engines
Okyay stated that there was a serious increase in the activities of Kale Arge and gave the following information:

"The internal qualification processes of the KTJ-3200 National Turbojet Engine, which we developed under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industry, have been completed, and the acceptance and closing activities have started. The developed engine will be integrated into domestic platforms with the cooperation of ROKETSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE.

In particular, I would like to point out that the KTJ-3200 engine development and mass production is carried out with the support of our universities, domestic suppliers and the maximum use of the technical capabilities of the Kale Group. With the knowledge and experience gained from the KTJ-3200, we started new turbojet engine projects. We are working on 'advanced turbojet engines' in the size of the current engine but with more advanced features, and new engines in smaller sizes but with the latest technologies, and we continue our technology development and design studies. Thus, the propulsion system needs for current and future domestic and national air platforms will be met by Kale Arge."

Pointing out that Kale Arge is in a very rapid growth in terms of infrastructure, organizational structure and number of personnel, Okyay stated that they aim to increase their R&D activities and the number of engineers within this scope by 35 percent this year.

It's excellent that they are continuing to further their developments in propulsion systems, it seemed like in past interviews with Osman Okyay they wanted to step back in propulsion systems and move on to APU type engines, no doubt the difficulty in developing KTJ-3200 was worth all the effort they put into it in the end!

2020: on the last straight.
2021: at the end of the straight.
2022: approached the final line.
2023: we will integrate it into the som missile.
2024: missile test firings.
2025: bla bla

.


kale failed to do so. I have no more confidence. new engine projects should continue with tei. big or small, it doesn't matter.
