Alright, enough about Mirage for the time being. Now I'm throwing this one for you all to discuss:

"The capacity and capability of Indonesia to know the position and destroy of space debris."

That is one of the topics which will be presented and discussed in a seminar that will be held this year in Jakarta. And, yes. I put this in the Indonesian Air Force thread since they will be one of the major stakeholders in the development of our national space defense.

All i could say regarding these 2nd hand mirages and Rafale financing scheme is ..... Nothing in this world ever comes free . Especially when it comes into inter states relationship and interest .

So i would sip more of my kapal api sachet and smoke more utangan 234 while watching you all get " energized " here .

Space debris? Space forces, do we have one?

What? Your coffee's farted? 😱

The vision to have one created in near future certainly exists, either under TNI-AU or as the fourth branch of TNI. But what caught my interest the most is that the topic may mean that we already feel the need to be able to detect, track, and destroy space "debris".
Does our S60 capable of shooting orbital target now?
Nobody looks down on simbah. Ever! Repent you fool! 😑

Yep what kind of "debris". Spy satellite from the adversaries...
Did armed forces make collab with LAPAN or this thing pop up from the consultation with foreign partner regarding the threat from space?
Its a good sign they went alert about that thing.

LAPAN is no more though. It has been dissolved into BRIN since September last year and now it's ORPA (Organisasi Riset Penerbangan dan Antariksa).

From what I can gather, one of the reasons for this was that LAPAN's authority is actually limited when it comes to developing technology for military/defense, so ORPA was established to overcome this.

If we could somehow read between the line here . Ballistic missile and large " meteorite"s like kind of object " could and should be identified as " space debris " ...

See where i am going here ... ??

Assume blow it, it just turns to smithereens, smaller debris

Uhh, not really. ORPA, as its name suggests, is an R&D department in aeronautics and space for both civilian/commercial and military/defense sectors.

Well, of course, nothing will materialize if there's no funding for it. But as you can see in my first post about this, this will be presented and discussed in the upcoming seminar, so the whole "space force" is still in the pre-conceptual stage, or at least early concept - not even in the "alpha" stage yet.

But most importantly, at least from my perspective, the top brass in TNI-AU and the TNI, in general, have clearly recognized the need for us to have the ability for it. Also, if you noticed the signing of an agreement between a certain Indonesian SoE with a certain foreign company in the last couple of months, and then with Jokowi's visiting Boca Chica last month, I dare to say that it's not too far out of reach anymore.

Bold: Yep. If LAPAN/ORPA's program to have a 1-ton capacity launch vehicle to low Earth orbit materializes as planned in 2040, it will also mean that we already have the capacity to build our own missile/satellite defense.

Over optimistic? Perhaps. But still no less interesting.

So it could be converted to Ballistic missile hehe

Sorry, back to Mirage for a bit.
Damn, even for Taiwan who is always on the edge and battle ready, Mirage readiness are pretty low and much more expensive to operate even compared to F16V! 😓

No biggie, if calculated well, the destruction of space objects will result in smaller debris that will be completely burned in the atmosphere. The main problem with Russia's and China's anti-satellite tests was that they gave no f*ck to the space junk issues and created more debris instead.

Not all go to the earth atmosphere tho. Maybe there would be private sector that has service to deal with space junks. Sometimes in the future this kind of things needed possibly.
