Production of the first two of the 10 planned OPVs , Akhisar and Kochisar ships are on their way.
First ship, Akhisar will be moved to dry dock in August. And the second ship’s first steel panel cutting will take place in December this year.
Based on Milgem Corvettes, these ships will have a more Spartan weapon load. However due to the modular construction of the ships additional weaponry will quickly be installed, if and when the need arises.

Additional weapons will be installed if and when the need arises! This is ridiculous. The need is now. We dont need 10 patrol boats. We need a strong Navy which can fight against Greece, Egypt, France together. How come we believe those pseudo economic arguments not to arm these vessels? For God‘s sake we produce now the radar, and the missiles why not arm the vessels? We need them now, are we paralysed and dont understand what is going on?

In line with the 16 x YTKB Tuzla class boats’ weaponisation program , Roketsan is preparing to deliver 300 ASW rockets to the TR Naval forces.

Turkmenistan's Tuzla Class have double (frontal -rear) ASW rocket launcher, why our Navy is greedy?

Since they are built for ASW i would love to see light torpedoes on YTKBs..

For that ,they need also a proper sonar and a medium level radar system

Their job is patrolling the blue land in 7/24 basis, not force projection against rival navies. The other warships will do that and OPVs will free their duties to do what they intended to do. Our OPVs are built but not fitted to be heavy armed.

@Altay2071,
Think of it this way:
1 x OPV costs 110 million dollar to build
1 x Milgem Corvette costs 260 million dollar to build
1 x I-Class frigate costs 400million to build.
You have seen how long it took to build 4 Milgem Corvettes.
You’re seeing how long it is taking 4 more I-Class ships to build.
This way we are going to have a ship ready every year after this year. Albeit little under powered and under weaponed. But when we have the means and finance to arm them we will do that very quickly. It is the building of the ships that take time.
Just check out some of the ongoing defence production programs off to the top of my head;
3 billion dollar API submarines
1.5 billion dollar I-Class frigate program
0.5 billion dollar Barbaros frigate modernisation
1 billion dollar TCG Anadolu
6 billion dollar F16-V70 purchase and kits
X billion dollar Ozgur and Aesa modernisation
~1billion dollar Turkish FAC program
~1billion dollar OPV program
2.5 billion dollar Altay tank program
~1billion dollar Firtina 2 howitzer program
3-5 billion dollars air defence systems (just the development of them cost close to a billion dollars.
There are so many more for land forces and weapons for various platforms that are being produced that I can not list here like SOM missiles, HGK and KGK kits. All the UAVs and their development costs.
We are not a cash rich country with abundant oil and gas reserves.
I think considering our financial situation we are not doing too bad.

Radar for ASW? ( However IMO YTKBs need MAR-D /SUNGUR)
Light torpedoes have very limited range so their sonar will be enough in short range.

Notice that tiny sonobuoy from a helicopter can assist a torpedo.

Also Remember ASW rockets can't chase while torpedoes can maneuver.

No gap!!

Milgem 5 the I-Class first ship is to have both ESSM and Hisar missile system capabilities.
But then again the anti ship system is shown as Harpoon 2. Yet we know that all combatant ships were to have Atmaca integrated . Also the RAM system we were led to believe were among those embargoed systems. So there is a bit of contradiction there.

It’s bull to make FFBNW. We don’t have the luxery of having such vessels. Especially considering the region we’re in and our Mavi Vatan doctrin. Considering how fuc-ked the civilian governments are the chance of those vessels getting fully furbished is extremely low. They should just give it to TCG and expand the operational area to whole EEZ. Just like China.

Against anti ship roles and to increase its situational awereness ,if we will use them in a broad range anti submarine roles.

Just for me to understand the costs for an OPV vs Milgem corvette. I think the percentage of national production was much lower for the corvette at the time of their building compared to now. Once we pay for the hull and the engine, what else there is that is so much costly? Assuming also we can replace RAM with Levent in the near future. Also frankly speaking, once a radar has been developed what is the cost of its material? Certainly we should compensate aselsan for the development costs and allow a reasonable profit margin but this should still cost much less compared to buying it externally. Otherwise, are we still paying for the sub components of the things we are claiming to produce nationally? Can someone knowleadgeable please shed light on these topics?

“Fitted For But Not With” idea is the main notion behind these OPVs.
1. As you mention radars; the radar of the Milgem is very costly. Since these ships are going to be more for patrol duties, they don’t need to have costly radars. (A CAFRAD of TF2000 could cost as much as a ship). But should have adequate radar power to cope with issues when certain weapons are installed at a later date.
2. Milgem has an expensive gas turbine. These will have diesel only propulsion.
3. RAM unit with missiles cost good part of 25 million dollars. Our version of point defence will be cheaper.
4. Limited number of anti ship missiles and/or CAKIR instead of Atmaca will be much cheaper to accommodate. They may even give it a miss with anti ship missiles at the beginning.
5. These OPVs would be a good platform to launch ULAQ type Unmanned Sea Vessels. For force projection it may depend on these.
6. Although they will have helicopter landing platforms, they may not have helicopters assigned to them.
ASFAT has shown a rendering of this ship with a lot of weapons installed. Even more than a Milgem Corvette currently has. But considering the FFBNW approach of the design, initial ships may not have most of that are shown in the rendering.

If the government wastes $500 billion dollars in 20 years, of course we will have a hard time doing it.

According to the figures, we paid over $500 billion in interest in just 20 years.

If we say 500 billion dollars wasted, it would be 1 trillion dollars in total.

We have also spent 50 billion for refugees. And they are still dreaming of a totally useless Kanal Istanbul, which would cost 25 Billion. Whereas we only need 10 billion to build a formidable navy with local means.

Are you suggesting that we ditch one for the other, what are you saying?

Is the money that will build the Kanal Istanbul available to Navy projects?
Can a navy be built just because you have some money?
Have you paid the money you spent for refugees from your hard cash, could it be spent somewhere else?

NO!
