Let’s put cat among the pigeons!
There is a likelihood that any large scale program like an A/C, LHD - Trakya or TF-2000 will be shelved or at least put on the back burner post 2023 due to limiting extravagance and financial constraints.
In all honesty, in spite of the fact that it would give us a giant leap in naval force projection and how much we all yearn for it, this could be the logical move. TF-2000 is an expensive project. Difficult to manufacture and the loss or disablement of a platform like this will be too much to handle in the middle of a conflict. 8 units of 4000ton to 4500ton I-Class derivative or even another 8 I-Class ships are cheaper and quicker to produce and more effective in the event of a conflict.
Just imagine as frigates/corvettes go, if we had :
4 x modernised Barbaros Class Frigates
4 x I - Class frigates
8 x TF4500 frigates. (Or 8 x further I-Class)
10 x OPVs
4 x Milgem Corvettes.

I had rather have these than live with the dream of TF-2000 for another decade.
With a 690billion dollar economy I can’t see anything more happening. Next 5 to 10 years will be the firefighting years of our economical shortcomings. Leaving funds for all areas in short supply. Defence will take it’s share as well.

I class got delated only because of embargoes you know that right? First I class already is getting set up with Its sub systems etc.
I know, but I can't wait any longer! Since TF2000, if at all, will be there after 2030, we should build in parallel another set of four frigates from the I class.

There is a lack of trust to the capabilities of the Turkish defense industry and Türkiye in general among some forumers. I believe Türkiye will accomplish more than what we have already and go beyond expectations, I have no doubt about it.

It's ok to have some healthy skepticism and to ask the right questions.

I personally trust and respect a lot our engineers, technicians etc. This I cannot say fully for project management, including securing backups and financing/political aspects.

And of course I hope the best for my country and defense industry, that's why we are monitoring day and night all the small developments and get happy about them. But currently we are in such a situation, we cannot tolerate any mistakes of the past (well knowing quite a deal has been achieved so far).

Financing: In the coming years national input in the projects will rise above 90% and the costs will be paid in Turkish Liras, you can simply print money to pay for projects.

Political aspect: When the last time a coalition government came into power it only lasted 6 months and early elections followed. Turkish people will not allow a weak government.

What finances did the Turkish defense industry lack? According to Temil Kotil, most of TAI's iconic projects are govt funded; i-e, Atak-2, Hurkus, and MMU and each of these surely at least cost around a billion to 2 billion dollars in R&D alone and now only few months left till all of such projects are revealed! And this is in one company only.
Just imagine how much money the govt is spending in terms of R&D accross all the firms of the TSK defense industry. In fact, I would say that out of all the sectors in Turkey, the defemse industry is the most stable in terms of finances

The only things Turkey lacks are economic stability to reduce inflation and securing backups (as you said before) and Iam sure Turkey has learned a lot from Altay's case. For economic stability to be achieved, you need to find domestoc gas sources since this has been the Achilles heel of Turkey for the last 6 to 7 bloody decades

Yeah print tl to pay for military projects, yeah that totally makes sense.
Then people ask how erdo gets reelected everytime. When you have such voterbase its not that hard.

what is a weak government anyways?
can you elaborate?
then we can see if your definitions of a weak government has any similarity with akp.

Hope we see a real modernization of these boats. Having 16 equipped with Sungur, Levent and Cakir AShM would be huge boost. Maybe even replace the DualForty with Naval Göker.

@Anmdt @TheInsider
Wasnt it supposed to be commissioned by the end of the next year? Did the Turkish defense industry localise an embargoed product or something?

Nonetheless good news; waiting for the Greek govt to go and complain to Germany again, lool😂

Production of the first two of the 10 planned OPVs , Akhisar and Kochisar ships are on their way.
First ship, Akhisar will be moved to dry dock in August. And the second ship’s first steel panel cutting will take place in December this year.
Based on Milgem Corvettes, these ships will have a more Spartan weapon load. However due to the modular construction of the ships additional weaponry will quickly be installed, if and when the need arises.

Where,which shipyard?
Good question! @Anmdt can put some light on it. If the parts are ready to be put in dry dock for assembly, it needs to be done at the place where they were first cut.
According to below site:
quote:
Within the framework of the project, which began on August 15, 2021, ASFAT General Directorate of Shipyards and Istanbul Shipyard, which have already signed contracts for two vessels, aim to manufacture ten Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Turkish Naval Forces Command. The first of ten vessels to be built, TCG Akhisar, is scheduled to be delivered to the Naval Forces Command in May 2023, with the second vessel following in 2024.
unquote.

It swings between december and february, likely december is when Navy will get the submarine out from harbor for sea trials, commissioning will be held in 2023 which is in lieu with the information provided in TN website.

Placing a construction block on slipway =\= moving to the dry dock. It is very first step of the block assembly. But more than half of the blocks, and almost all of the sub-assemblies are ready. The block assemblies will be rather quick for the first hull of the class. The hulls will be towed to the dry dock next year.

Where,which shipyard?
Istanbul shipyard command, aka Pendik naval shipyard. Remaining 8 will be constructed in a private shipyard and tender should be announced in 2022.
