And how is this related to BMC?
How is this related to BMC? Is this a serious question?? BMC did not design this tank , any alteration on engine or on weight is affecting project. Since BMC is not the designer , engineering company for Altay, BMC can not properly adapt Altay to current changes!! Not just Korean engine, but there is also British and Ukrainian engines as well, why they have not redesigned Altay for these other engines for 4 years and waited for Korean engines?
Akp fucked up this project , this is crystal clear!!
additionally, there is no medium tank tender as well . Army is with 40-50 years old junk tanks !!

I don't think that you understand how integration process happens,

Oh and the problem is not the BMC here, it is SK transmission

If ALTAY had continued as OTOKAR's Main Contractor as expected, the 122nd ALTAY would have been coming off the line during the IDEF Fair in August 2021...
Wasn't the main reason why they gave the tank to BMC cost ? Now we have no tank, probably won't have any tanks until 2025 and the new foreign tanks costs more than what OTOKAR offered.
Ding dong ding find the powerpack which Otokar was going to use.

Hint: it starts with Euro

Yeah no idea why Mr İbrahim said this, maybe things with otokar would go faster and we would at least get power packs for the first 40 tanks ? Afterwards it would be more difficult for them to embargoe us?
I mean look at the submarine program, if we started a few years later they probably would have embargoed that too.

I still doubt it, Otokar would probably be able to get 40 of them, but not any further

Yeah it's still sad to see, i would have liked to see Altay with active protection systems with desert camo in Syria. I hope BMC power succeeds.

Also no update from BATU V12 engine ... Are tests still going on ?
Even Israel uses the German engine in the merkava, one of the best tanks in the world. If even a country like Israel could not make a tank engine, it was unreasonable to believe that bmc, who had never built an engine in his life, could make a tank engine.

They don't, because they don't have to

I find claims that Otokar would make hundreds of Altay by now absurd. Yes, BMC shouldn't be awarded this contract, but let's be honest, Germany put this embargo on Turkey, not on BMC. They didn't do it to protest against us for giving the contract to BMC instead of Otokar. They did it for our operations in Syria in order to support PKK. Otokar being the main contractor or not, would not change this outcome since they don't produce a 1500 hp engine plus transmission.

Also, this was not the first time Germany caused problems in defense. I hope we won't buy even a screw from those suckers in the future. Let it be lower quality but not German.

You should know, that in Germany are two parties related to Türkiye. One will go with Türkiye and deepen ties. The other one will cut ties with Türkiye. In other words, Otokar is/ or could be a partner of Germany. BMC not.

OTOKAR>anything made by BMC

Lets not forget how they are delaying the NGIFV tender with their shitty alptuğ vehicle worst vehicle ever made.

This tank won't be ready before 2026.
The South Korean transmission made by SNT Dynamics (EST15K) failed to run more than 7600km. It needs to run 9600km like most German transmissions. It failed South Korean durability tests and the transmission was rejected and went back to development. It will most likely also fail Turkish tests.

SNT Dynamics said they've fixed and improved it and will be ready for 2023-2024 production year. Turkish military is not testing this new version.

Let's say its 2023 and they've finished testing the current transmission, and then another 2 years testing the new SK transmission and then maybe you got something 2025-2026.

Best option is to upgrade Leopard 2A4s until this comes around.
