For the common greek these developments are actually positive, because the greek governments hostile position is madness. In some ways a worse madness then armenian ambitions. Because it means the greek government is less likely to do something stupid.

By Turkiye showing this capability its basically trying to avoid a war by saying it would be a futile act to the greeks to start one. Because otherwise if they wanted the greeks to do something stupid they would have kept this secret and use is a big big surprise for the greeks.

greeks should be thanking the Turkish government for keeping their foolish government in check.
I am so happy about this new missile. But I fear it was a big mistake to reveal it. We should have produced hundreds of it and destroy all greek infrastructure if they attacked first. Now greeks will get THAAD from US, iron dome from Israel, and all sorts of ballistic missiles. Basically for free. The way out for us now to improve both our strike abilities by more advanced missiles (and many of them) and also through protection against BMs. Now France will never cooperate with us for SAMP-T and we need at least 5 to 6 years to acquire that ability. Eventually there will come a point when it will be too costly for US and Europe to arm greece so they will give up. But with this test we have made it more difficult for us. On the other hand US would have seen it anyhow I guess.

What's the speed of the

Tayfun missile turkey tested today ?

That's a great question, and I do have 2 answers, one is ~3.6 Mach (if you take the distance between launch location and target), the other is ~5 Mach avarage if you also count ballistic trajectory

THAAD or other kind of ABM systems won't be effective as this missile is inside the atmosphere,

PAC-3MSE and Aster-30 could have a chance but missile would still be pretty fast and Patriots will have a rough time.

What does tayfun mean ? Tornado?
3.6 mach for ballistic missile
No official release from turkey yet ?yes ?

Paying attention to average speed is deceiving as boost speed is lower.
Burnout velocity at terminal stage seems more important.

May God be with our engineers! Does anyone have an estimate of the unit cost of this missile? Any components dependent on foreign delivery?

If i'm being honest i would have used the greek governments hostility and stupidity to pull her far enough into the ocean, where she feels so confident to do something absolutely stupid and then use it to resolve the sea of islands dispute.

Pashinyon was the perfect kind of hostile fool Azerbaijan needed to resolve a decades old dispute that the western world was doing everything not to resolve.

Could you have imagined the shock within the first hour of war these things hitting every single airbase the greeks have? All critical infrastructure potentially being taken out within the first day of war?

On a side note would be nice to export these to Azerbaijan too.

If the SRBM just falls without acceleration, the terminal Speed is around mach 3.

So ordinary radar guidance system of HİSAR SAM could transform typhoon into anti-ship missile, am i mistaken?

Terminal Speed is lover than average.

If the engine of typhoon missile burns at terminal stage, i have no answer :)

People are overwhelmingly emphasizing that this is a message to Greece. I believe this is also a message to Egypt. Egypt is creating trouble in Libya again and this time Turkey will not stop at Sirte.

The Egyptian navy has no place to hide now in East Mid, and their naval air defence is crap.

technically its a message to anyone who has a problem with Turkiye, but what makes everyone think its for the greeks is the 561. People point out its the distance between central istanbul and athens.

I dont really know if we just calculate it from the distance travelled by the rocket or the distance between target and the launcher?

Because this makes a very big difference.

If it is calculated with distance travelled by the missile, wouldnt it be around/over mach 5?
That's right I meant the flight distance was travelled at that speed, the actual speed of the missile is still unknowns thats why I asked you guys if you could calculate it taking into consideration altitude and balistic trajectory.

I suppose since Turkiye revealed it that probably means it has something much more powerful in it's arsenal or in final stages of development.
It's highly unlikely to get THAAD or Iron dome for free. Not only Greece but anyone.Advanced weapons like that are rarely just given away for free and even if they were it would be to few of them to counter any serious attack. As far as France and SAMP-T cooperation goes,France is the strongest supporter of Greece and most islamophobic nation in Europe.
The best you could hope in any "cooperation" with them is a dumbed down version of Aster, probably inferior to the systems Turkiye is currently developing.

Speed of Tayfun missile questions
The only data we have in our hands of this missile is the fact that it flew for 458seconds the distance of 561km. That gives us an average speed of 3.6 Mach for this missile.
A short range ballistic missile of this ilk gains speed and altitude very quickly and reaches it’s apogee under it’s own power. Then levels off and may travel a short part of mid course under it’s own thrust but when fuel is exhausted, it travels with the momentum it has gained. As it starts to lose speed it starts to dive in towards Earth, gaining speed, since there is almost no significant air drag till about 15000metres. During this dive it reaches hypersonic speeds. As it starts hitting denser atmosphere layers it’s speed decreases. The terminal speed of the missile is governed by the law of terminal velocity. The heavier, the more accute the angle of attack and the more aerodynamic the missile is the higher the terminal speed will be. So if the missile is coming down at near 90 degrees, it’s drag coefficient is close to an aerofoil and it’s empty weight is say 2500kg it should hit it’s target with a speed of 1685m/second = ~5 Mach. But this is for ideal conditions and has a lot of ifs. In reality it could be more like 60-70% of this.

I have a question ❓
Edit
Today It was said: typhoon reached 50km altitude and its range 560km??

If the SRBM hits 560km range, it should reach min 150km altitude!!!

So Typhoon's rocket engine worked during the all course!! The missile didn't free fall. Direct, linear and low fly path was followed by the missile.

So what should we assume?
Typhoon has longer range than today's test. The missile could fly longer time

They said it reached 90 km, which is under karman line (100km), i.e under outer space. That means tayfun is a quasi ballistic missile having maneuvering capability.
