Just speculating: it may have landed near Sinop, becase telemetry devices are located in the Sinop test facility and they have intended to observe behaviour in terminal stage, maybe maneuvering. They could also test it from Sinop to Rize if they were interested in launch characteristics, however it was vice-versa.
Üstadım, can ASBM(anti-ship) missile batteries be created with a TAYFUN type system?

More range than typhoon means the use of unconventional warheads. Otherwise, it does not make sense in terms of cost and precision to launch a mrbm to the target.

I also think this, we will stop at SRBMs, and improve speed, manueverability, guidence etc.

Tayfun's range (750-800km) is enough for us

Turkish Tayfun ballistic missile with a range of 550 km, a huge threat to the PA and Greek infrastructure

The Turkish Roketsan carried out the first test firing of the Tayfun ballistic missile this morning.

The test was done at 6:50 am. local time from a point at Rize-Artvin Airport, located near Rizunda on the Pontus. According to "Bloomberg", the missile traveled 561 kilometers and fell off the port of Sinop.

Although it has long been known that Turkey is studying the development and manufacture of ballistic missiles with ever-increasing range, there were no public details about the Tayfun. "Bloomberg" notes that the program has been in progress for several years, while the Presidency of the Defense Industry refused to disclose any information.

Tayfun is the third main ballistic missile developed by Turkey, after J600T Yildirin (150+ km range) and BORA (280+ km range). The latter two are in the Turkish Army's arsenal, and the introduction of the Tayfun into service will increase Ankara's options for wartime attack on very important facilities (e.g. airports, major military bases, manufacturing and industrial centers) deep in the rival inland.

Engaging moving targets becomes harder as the range increases, also the sea is a challenging terrain which makes CEP the most critical aspect, if missed by few meters the secondary damage is little compared to the land.

I am more in favor of using missiles based on BORA, TRLG-300 for such a role. Shorter range, limited terminal velocities easier to maneuver and engage.

I am more wondering if Navy would be interested in this missile and install it on Frigates - Destroyers. I know they have spared some spots on TF-2000 for an unknown missile system that is not contained in VLS (except the AShMs).

However, the use of anti-ship ballistic missiles on warships is not a common practice.

Tayfun aka Bora 2 is the continuation of Bora. The missile is similar to Bora in weight and dimensions and carries a similar warhead to roughly double the range of Bora(280km official, 360km proved). I don't want to quote the exact maximum range as it is not released but it is somewhere between 700-800km. Tayfun can reach 1000km with a lighter warhead exchanged for more fuel. Tayfun comes with different guidance options(including but not limited to carrier killer variant) and the trucks that can carry Bora can also carry Tayfun so every Bora launcher is also a Tayfun launcher. This is not a test launch Tayfun is currently in the inventory with a good number of missiles have already been delivered. It went unnoticed due to its secrecy and its similarity to the Bora missile. İstanbul to Atina is roughly 561km, from İzmir a 561km arc covers all of the Greek mainland, 561 is more than double the official range of the Bora missile (280*2+1 that +1 has a big meaning) This test shenanigan is done intentionally to give Greece a huge warning.
great to see you back mate

Last month, Greek mainstream analysts were talking about destroying the Istanbul bridges with Rafales. lol

It is a pure coincidence that the distance between Athens Acropolis and Istanbul Sarayburnu is 561 km.

This wasn't the first test of Tayfun, remember earlier times which NOTAM was issued in Black sea but then nothing came out. And see how cool the personnel was, literally instructed the operators, delivered coordinates and went back. Possibly they have tested something newer on top of typical SRBM features.

For the common greek these developments are actually positive, because the greek governments hostile position is madness. In some ways a worse madness then armenian ambitions. Because it means the greek government is less likely to do something stupid.

By Turkiye showing this capability its basically trying to avoid a war by saying it would be a futile act to the greeks to start one. Because otherwise if they wanted the greeks to do something stupid they would have kept this secret and use is a big big surprise for the greeks.

greeks should be thanking the Turkish government for keeping their foolish government in check.

Exactly. This was not a test but a demonstration(or showcasing if you will) so that our neighbors don't get funny ideas.
