First time i hear Turkey being so direct about their views on the sahara. When the Ambassador Dogan said benefit «third parties» then he was refering to the ones that support the «polisario front» Algeria. Happy to see the transparent view from Turkey.
I dont think he meant Algeria but those in the background using Algeria.

Definitly! If we look at the bigger pictures then we will find other actors pulling the strings behind the scenes. However the artificial conflict dogan was refering to was related to the «western sahara». In the past, and the present the diplomatic/ and millitary war was only to hurt the growth of Morocco.

Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell.

“There are parties (in Europe) that are disturbed by Morocco, which is developing and strengthening its position in its African, Arab and Mediterranean surroundings.” "Morocco will defend its interests"

I looked at the 2020 figures just now, and India imported (from Morocco) about 1.2 billion USD worth of:

Phosphoric Acid
Mineral or chemical fertilizer
calcium phosphates

This looks to expand more soon:

The ties are growing indeed! Im reading
in moroccan media that a 30 year fertilizer agreement is close to be signed. In exchange Morocco wants cooperation in the defense industry😁

EU condemned Morocco for the first time in over 20 years regarding human rights.

The Parliament announced on Monday its decision to reconsider its relations with the EU by subjecting them to a global reassessment, aimed at taking firm and appropriate decisions, following the latest positions of the EP with regard to Morocco. Morocco cancels two important meetings related to the visit of Olivier Lecointe, Deputy Director of North Africa and the Middle East in the General Department of Armaments in the French Ministry of Defense, on January 23 and 24, as well as the convening of the joint advisory committee on judicial cooperation, which was scheduled for January 30 and 31.

A Moroccan parliamentarian reminds Europe of their human rights issues before giving lessons , and what happened during the Covid period by letting the elderly die, the issue of colonizing Africa, and conflict created by the west.

Spain takes distance from the resolution that happened in front of french president Macron.

PM Pedro Sanchez on the European Parliament resolution targeting Morocco: “It is a resolution that we did not share [..] with regard to bilateral relations between Spain and Morocco, we have very good relations”

FM Jose Manuel. returned to relations with Morocco:

"Without the cooperation of Morocco, Spain and Europe cannot dismantle the jihadist cells and stop the terrorists..."

His Majesty the King terminated the duties of the Moroccan ambassador to France, and the decision has been valid since January 19, 2023. The same day that France made provocative moves toward the Kingdom within the European Union Parliament.

The Israeli Liasion office in Rabat is now filled by Shai Cohen. After several diplomatic missions in Uruguay, Italy and Turkey, the Israeli special envoy for Defense and cooperation in Cybersecurity takes the place of Alona Fischer-Kamm. This new profile highlights the priority between the two countries in military cooperation, which has developed strongly since normalization.

I support both Algeria and Morocco.

But why does Algeria care so much about Polisario?

Polisario have always been commies or leftists.

What does Algeria really gain I dont get that to be honest

Both Polisario and the Algerian military gang are communists if we take a look back at history. They all got annihilated by the Moroccan army, and now I'm talking about all the soldiers of Cuba, Egypt, and Libyans under Gaddafi.

To understand the issue we need to understand that the issue is much bigger than the involvement of Algeria. Spain and France have always had their hands on the Sahara, and especially France. Any Moroccan with a little knowledge about this matter is well aware of the games that France is playing in our region.

Polisario is the entity that was created by Algeria, and ran by Algeria so why should it not care about them? I have 3 reasons for you why Algeria is interested in the Sahara! Access to the Atlantic Sea/resources, slowing down Morocco economically speaking, and slowing down Moroccan claims on its legitimate borders before the French colonization of North Africa.

Just a matter of time..

countering Moroccan irredentism before it gets over and making sure morocco remains boxed and weak, because historically they invaded all their neighbors whenever they got the upper hand to take territory be it algeria or mauritania or or western sahara (historically as in the 60s and 70s), where do you think they'll look next once they get control over western sahara ? i mean even john bolton did see a map of morocco in their king's office that covers all of mauritania and half of algeria, so algeria making these preimptive measures to avoid a war over its territory and keeping its enemy weaker than itself is a perfectly justified position

side note: this is the icj's decision regarding western sahara:

this is the chronology of events

you can come to your own conclusion regarding this issue.

I guess both Algeria and Morocco have geopolitical interests and territorial irrendentism.

I guess I got the answer I needed.

not quite, algeria is satisfied with its current borders and isn't trying to expand them, just wants to keep morocco in check

Answer to you @Ryder

I moved 2 of the posts regarding history to the appropriate thread, feel free to continue the discussion there. Now back to the topic of foreign policy.

As I mentioned earlier one of the 3 reasons that they involve themselves as much is to try to weaken Morocco. This has been tried for many decades without no success on the battlefield. However, it has had a result when it comes to the economy of both the countries and the region in general. You can imagine the cost of maintaining an army of 240 000 active soldiers, as well as all the equipment since the 60s.

Now when it comes to the land that Morocco claims then we need to understand that this is not a 1000-year-old land claim. What Morocco is claiming is the land that it lost after the colonization of France. We are now talking about the same state that has been in rule since early 1600 until now. Its a lot of history behind it so for you to understand we have to talk more in-depth.

Let's take the thread to the appropriate place so the thread dont get ruined by some people.

The State of Israel recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the territory of the southern provinces in Morocco that some like to call Western Sahara. Many European countries will hasten to strengthen their decision regarding recognizing the Moroccan Sahara. The enemies of Morocco are left in an awkward position where they see states from all continents recognizing Moroccan sovereignty, leaving them out.

Israel's recognition of the Moroccan Sahara shows its credibility and desire to strengthen its relations with the Kingdom of Morocco on all fronts.

Anyone who wants to be friends with Morocco must recognize its full territorial integrity. The Sahara issue is the lens through which Morocco looks at the world.

The Western Sahara file will be closed soon, and Morocco will continue its path toward the Eastern Sahara!
