I guess it is better to find out now.
Prof Aksit has been conducting negotiations with GE for local under licence manufacturing of F404 engines. Let us hope that those negotiations have come to fruition finally.
Otherwise buying these engines outright will not bring anything to our defence industry and is in fact the wrong route to take.
The number of engines in question mean, we intend to manufacture in excess of 90 aircrafts.
Asking for these engines now, as you rightly point out, will make it clear where we stand with GE and US. It will also be a good indication about the soon to be renewed T70 Sikorsky licence.

Tuaf will buy total 16 Hurjet, what are they going to do with 84 engines? Spare parts?

There are 68 T-38 waiting to be replaced and there will be also Hurjet's for Turkish Stars as well.(probably around 15)

Considering the spare engines as well, those 100 engines are probably just for Turkish Air Force needs.

From what we ( @Radonsider ) understand, LRIP will be in order in 2025. Whereas mass production will commence in around 2028. So initial deliveries could still happen at the aforementioned dates.

As i remember this was disclosed earlier that TurAF will receive the aircraft at a certain time, and then it will be operational in 2027/2028.
Also "sea platform" capable hürjet was mentioned earlier several times, even by Kotil himself and engineers at the fairs that "preliminary studies are being conducted".

Wonder why our defense industry press likes to reheat and serve the old matters.

@Anmdt

sorry to ask you, what's you personal view regarding the naval version of Hurjet ?
My personal view; we are talking about a platform that will be operational in 2035 (along with the platform it will be operate from + naval aviation training + test phase) . The design will be obsolote in 12 years as a carrier based fighter. Better redirect these efforts into marinization of helicopters.

The Hürjet has no priority. In fact, it did not win the Malaysia tender.

It looks like all teams will be working for Kaan.

Kaan must be out before the 2028 election.
