Maybe they are talking about the operationalization of the quadpack configuration starting from the 2nd ship. 16*4 total 64 missiles.

Also as off-topic, I am definitely in favor of the development of a scalable and peripheral variant of MIDLAS. Thus, We would gain the option to add maximum VLS capability as part of the modernization of low displacement ships or old frigates and corvettes of our country and other friendly navies. Maybe not for future strategic missiles, but at least at the tactical level.

Maybe it is just slightly enlargening current MİDLAS module? Not adding extra MİDLAS?

Could 20cell MİDLAS be fit its current place?

This is a must after cracking the multi-packing tech. The mere difference is making each VLS cell self-sustainable (controllers, exhausts etc) and in variable sizes.

More VLS =/= better ship.
We all have seen situational awareness, network-datalink-connectivity, sensors, EW capabilities matter the most.

Damen has quitted JV with state owned Mangalia shipyard in Romania. That leaves Fincantieri/Germany as the logical options and US as illogical one. Also a great oppurtinity for ASFAT / TAIS / Dearsan but doubting if Romania would be interested in cooperating with TR.
There are rumours about Freedom class to be sold to Romania

@Anmdt Is there any estimate how much each I class is costing for Turkish Navy?

Not sure if negotiations (on price basis) are completed for the remaining three hulls. SSB was conducting meetings with suppliers (including Aselsan, Roketsan et al.) and bargaining. That may only be known after these are completed.

So the contract of hull and weapons and sensors are made separately, not like there is a main contractor and the contract made just with them.

They will go with the US. They, as @Anmdt mentioned, need credit. Wouldn't surpise me if they just straight up buy Freedom-Class LCS the US intends to decommission in the near future.

On the topic of more VLS for follow on Istif-Class:

The information that the number of VLSs will increase on the three ships of the class is not correct. Both STM GM Mr. Güleryüz as well as Roketsan GM Mr. Ikinci told this openly in our interviews. HİSAR-D Block II will have a quadpack structure, so more missiles will be carried.

It will be saddening to see them going for US weapon systems instead of Turkish ones. Hope they figure out someday that it’s a double edged sword being buddies with the US.
On another note, I’ll freely admit that I’m filled with joy as the French ended up with a big bupkis. Like I’ve said before, I don’t wanna see them establish any military relations with the region countries.

Low acoustic signature, low rcs signature, counter-torpedo capable, more warship minded design (ehm, looking at you LCS and Damen), AESA sensors, "continious 360 degree" IRST, mid-range air defence, main shipyards & heavy maintenance centers are just few hundred nm away, and all of this package probably has lesser cost than others.

2 different users in Black Sea.

6 ships currently sailing, and 11+ ships in produce !

I don't know what to say.

Milgem might be a possibility. All of our opinions are speculations right now, mine included.

Let's see...

If you don't have preexisting beef with USA, it is a very good idea for small countries to get under US wings.
And Romania is already a strategic frontier for USA as they host the US AEGIS ASHORE ICBM interceptors.

Absolutely. And when you add the fact that the small country is a NATO member who is only one small country (Moldova) away from Russia with a breakaway “state” under the influence of the latter, near the battle zone, it makes sense.

If you are thinking about the LCS or MMSC frigate then I don't think they will end up in Romania. Most likely it will end up in a country with huge strategic importance to the US interest. Either it's Poland, Morocco, Taiwan etc...

LCS decommission in the future? You are not up to date....newly build are being decommissioned right after they are finished build....nobody want these p.o.s ships, even USN themselves...I don't want to elaborate further, just ask google amca
An example one brandnew build, first ever trip sailed to Australia to show flag and after returning home will be decommissioned

It's such a disaster. They don't allow thei navy to decommision ships they don't want and can't use. It's just political stuff to make sure companies get paid despite delivering sub par products. I can't see anyone else wanting them, it is estimated to take billions of dollars to make LCS ships actually useful and sea worthy especially early hulls. Ada class would be so much better for any Navy with such a need.
