Newest USN CVN, Gerald Ford.

Göksur or hypothetical Gökdemir - Naval could handle this job like that i think.

Unlike in the VLS ones, ESSMs on Mk 29s that are used on US amphibs and carriers are not quadpacked. Mk29 only carries 8 ESSMs. Tho it being a neater packaging, nothing below the deck, is a good selling point. US doesn't like VLS on its carriers.

I fully agree with you. This ship is naked when it comes to self protection. Couple of Phalanx will never cut it. It needs on board protection at a level that is commensurate with a vessel of this stature.
Goksur is a good close-in-weapons system. Its designers are very confident that they can hit targets with a single missile shot. But missiles developed from Bozdogan mean, they are expensive. Roketsan’s Levent System, however, use an upgraded version of Sungur missile. They should be a lot cheaper. Sungur missiles use titanium rods that are welded at alternate points and when missile explodes, these rods form a large circular wall that hits the incoming threat. Sungur is built as a true economical CIWS missile with an expected effective range of 11km thanks to its dual thrust engine. In addition to the 2 Phalanx there should be 2 Levent/Goksur on board.
Also, if we can not attach basket designed VLSs at the sides of this ship like Cavour has, then at least, we should place some oblique launchers with Hisar-RF missiles on to the deck of this ship.

People are saying: The air defense frigate will protect TCG ANADOLU. But how much does AD Frigate cost comparing MİDLAS loaded with missiles? I think 4 x compact AESA radar+16 cell MİDLAS with missiles, plus 2 x Gökdemir would be max 100 million USD. With such solution you would get LHD destroyer which everyone dreams.

Again i asked to my clever friend 😎 but the answer is not clear

The Yakamoz sonar and Fersah sonar are both hull-mounted sonar systems used for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and obstacle avoidance. Here are the differences between them:

Yakamoz Sonar:
- Developed by Meteksan Defence.
- It is a medium-frequency surface ship ASW and obstacle avoidance sonar.
- Designed for use on MILGEM corvettes and other surface ships.
- Features a more compact, capable, modular, and innovative scalable hardware and configurable software architecture.
- Offers a detection range of up to 30 km.
- Operates in active and passive modes.
- Provides a network coverage of 360° (DSH) and 90° (MAS).
- Meteksan Defence has also developed a retractable version called YAKAMOZ-RT.

Fersah Sonar:
- Developed by ASELSAN, a defense giant in Turkey.
- It is a hull-mounted ASW sonar system.
- Operates within the medium-frequency band in active and passive modes.
- Primary task is to meet the requirements of hull-mounted sonars.
- Can detect, analyze, and track underwater threats such as submarines and mine-like objects.
- Designed to provide frigates and corvettes with anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
- FERSAH is part of ASELSAN's new generation mid-frequency band, hull-mounted active sonar systems.

In summary, while both Yakamoz and Fersah sonars are used for ASW and obstacle avoidance, they are developed by different companies (Meteksan Defence and ASELSAN) and have their own unique featu
res and capabilities.

The answer seems very easy:
Fersah sonar is new and will be used i class frigate and in Barbaros modernization.

Yakamos is old, they are used in ADA-Class Corvettes. But there will be YAKAMOS 2020 which is more compact.

İ couldn't find the English brochure.

I hope our new frigates, Corvettes and TCG ANADOLU have passive interceptors.

I was hoping TCG İstanbul would be open to visitation today but as far I can see it's one of Barbaros Class in front of Dolmabahçe

TCG Derya and the waters of Istanbul through the lens of Oğuz Eroğuz. He is one of the most active naval shipspotters in Turkiye and have great works, if you are not following him I highly recommend.

Exhaust funnel design have changed. Not sure whether as a result of technical challenge or to cut the costs or incompetency of the designer.

Technical challenge: Building an appropiate funnel with add-on and height to avoid washing helicopter deck with exhaust (due to the airwake of forward structures as well).
Cost: New funnel design, with cooling systems (reductor, sprays etc.) for gas turbine embedded into. Now likely exists but it becomes complicated with an integrated funnel.
Incompetency: They do not hold necessary experience to design such a funnel supporting the given requirements.

Iterating once again, we should schedule quad-packing Siper-1D along with Hisar-D B2, building it on top of Hisar-D B2 with a booster sounds like a achievable goal. It will be a good rival to dual-packed CAMM-MR.

MBDA and PGZ join forces on CAMM-MR development

MBDA and PGZ have signed an agreement to co-operate on developing a new CAMM medium-range low-cost interceptor at MSPO 2023 in Kielce. The CAMM-MR missile is being designed to meet the needs of advanced ground and naval air defence at medium ranges.

The letter of intent between PGZ and MBDA follows on from the UK and Polish governments agreeing to progress development of a future common missile based on the Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM) family as part of the UK–Poland 2030 strategic partnership.

The new CAMM-MR missile concept has been created under a contract from the Polish Ministry of National Defence, with the new missile intended to complement CAMM & CAMM-ER within the integrated air and missile defence (IAMD) capabilities of the MIECZNIK and PILICA+/NAREW/WISLA programmes.

Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, said: “This joint working on a new missile is a historic step for our companies and for the development of European solutions for the Defense of Europe. MBDA was created to champion the cross border development of missile systems in Europe and so we’re very proud to be working in concert with PGZ and Poland on this exciting new project.”

Sebastian Chwałek, President of the Management Board of PGZ S.A. said: “This particular LOI is intended to pave the road map of future activities that both PGZ and MBDA should undertake to engage in design, development and production of CAMM-MR. We also call this initiative as Future Common Missile to convey our aspiration it will serve both the Polish and British Armed Forces as common munition with dual source of production. This is a new chapter for PGZ and we are very motivated to engage especially in design and development with assets that we have at hand or being implemented right now e.g. HWIL Laboratory, as a solid and strategic partner of MBDA.”

Polish involvement in the future development of the CAMM family follows on from the successful UK-Italian co-operation that created CAMM-ER.

MBDA is currently working with PGZ to enhance Poland’s missile capabilities, including through the PILICA+, NAREW, MIECZNIK and OTTOKAR BRZOZA programmes backed by transfer of knowledge and technology from MBDA to Poland’s defence industry. This joint working is providing decisive military capabilities to Poland, driving significant value for money and boosting the Polish economy and high-skilled jobs.

CAMM-MR !!first time I heard ,THX.

CAMM-MR has 100km range while ER had 45 km range. İnteresting.

Absolutely we should add booster Hisar-D and we should it quadpack.

Again i am repeating but what about dual-packing SİPER-B2?

I can't help dreaming.

Dream responsibly :D What is and isn’t feasible is difficult to guess but quadpack Siper B2 won’t fit. We will see how long it takes to quadpack hisar first.

Montrose and Monmouth would be two of the T23s Turkey would get if T23 deal worked out. Still good chance they will find their way here.

Get ready for a week of news segments if a Turkish scrapper buys the hulls.
