Everyone's of course free to share their opinions, but I cant take anyone serious that is taking sides with Russia. Now with the Ukraine war or even before.

Russia can go to hell, like the US. But if you are not anti-Russia, it doesnt mean you are pro-Russia.

Especially when the West is anti-Russia or anti-something, i just rest my case.

- During the Passion of the Christ the whole West turned against Mel Gibson.
- During the Wikileaks-periode the whole West turned against Julian Assange.
- During the Gezi-riots and the FETÖ-coup whole the West turned against Turkey.
- After 9/11 whole the West turned anti-Iraq and anti-Afghanistan
- During the Trump-era the West turned against North Korea
- During the covid-period the West turned against non-vaccinated people.
- During Turkish operations in Syria whole the West turned against Erdogan.
- During the last US elections the whole West turned against Trump.

I can continue the whole day long with examples.

Formula = If the Western media is bashing something, dont interfere and just run away.

If you wanted to know about Turks or Turkiye and all you had were Western sources, you'd think we tried to exterminate every greek, Armenian, Arab, Syrian, European etc but hey the food is nice (but actually it's stolen from the Greeks) and Izmir has nice beaches for cheap holidays, but watch out for terror attacks.

west isnt anti-Russia in totality, just look at syria or libya as examples of how the west and russia will work together against Turkey. In Libya, France and Russia are allied against Turkey. In Syria the Americans and Russians co-ordinate their moves against Turkey together. When it came to Azerbaijan despite Armenia being a Russian/Iranian military ally they sided with the Russian enemy.

Ottoman Empire spans from the Balkans all the way into the Middle East.

You do have lots of ethnic groups, cultures, races and religions along with different families, tribes, clans in 1 empire.

Orientalists instead made the empire into one monolithic entity.

If 1 Turk traveled from Belgrade to Baghdad no doubt there would be huge differences.

Orientalists never travelled the Empire. Most never visited they drew up their imaginations in art. Even if orientalists did come to the Ottoman Empire they just visited Istanbul thats all.

Not to mention orientalists only took interest in the Middle East and Asia as a whole because of their nostalgic bs about how the Industrial revolution ruined their societies. How the Middle East was untouched.

While the Middle East was going through its own industrial revolution albeit slower.

To be honest we have to blame ourselves too because in the Modern World Turkiye and a lot of the Middle Eastern countries like Egypt use orientalist tropes for tourism promotions too.

Does not effect foreign policy but the fake stupid images are just damaging at the same time our country uses it too for tourism.

You wont hear a Turkic baglama song in Turkish tourism ads regarding music either its Arabic music or shitty Turkish pop music.

Egypt, which is experiencing a serious economic crisis, is preparing to lease the seaport of Alexandria to Turkey. Negotiations on this issue between the two countries are still at an early stage, reports Navabharat Times.

Turkey at the gateway to the Horn of Africa for 10 years​

The Somali government and the Somali Parliament approved the economic and military cooperation agreement with Türkiye

Farhan Jimali, the official spokesman for the Somali government, said: In an extraordinary session today, the Council of Ministers approved a historic agreement on defense and economic cooperation with Turkey. The deal aims to strengthen Somalia’s maritime security and enhance its defense capabilities.

Meanwhile, Somali Minister of Transport and Communications, Ferdoza Osman, said: Our country began a new era after Parliament and the government approved the defense agreement with Türkiye

The Daily Somali website, which is close to the government, said that the duration of the agreement extends for ten years, during which Turkey will fully manage the Somali territorial waters, as Turkey will secure Somalia maritime in exchange for 30% of Somali economic resources in the state’s territorial waters.

Türkiye is also rebuilding the Somali navy and combating illegal fishing According to the newspaper, the agreement will support Somalia in confronting the Ethiopian agreement with Somaliland

Somali Minister of Information, Dawoud Aweys, commented on the agreement and said: This agreement represents a force of stability for the Horn of Africa and a new era of hope for Somalia

We don't have the details sure, but the deal looks to be pretty comprehensive on everything naval and EEZ. Somalia doesn't have a navy, or a coast guard. For years, they've been unable to police their own seas and their own EEZ. A deal where two countries work together on building a Somali maritime presence and also develop Somali underwater resources in which Turkey gets paid by some rights on Somali resources, sounds to good to be true. There are many ways to interpret this, some may even call it neo colonialism, which I disagree with. If Turkey manages to build Somalia a maritime future and gets paid in dividends this brings, everyone wins. And the ongoing cooperation between the two countries only grows from there. I wish for great success.

The implementation of this agreement is set to commence within 24 hours of its signing, entrusting Turkey with the responsibility of protecting and defending Somali waters. Should any infringement occur, Turkish forces are prepared to defend Somali waters as vigorously as they would their own.

Well we haven't seen the actual text, but I doubt it would give coordinates instead of just saying "Somali territorial waters". Both Somalia and Turkey recognizes "Somaliland" as part of Somalia. So, technically yes. We'll wait and see what it actually means and what are Turkey's plans about Somaliland.

I don't think we will be involved in this. There is no reason for Turkey to unnecessarily sour relations with the UAE.
