I know, but looking at project they are already into such as emlu, possible KFC continuation, N219 production, UAV, I seriously doubt they have enough human resources and other resources to get it done. I hope Im wrong because I hate it at the end of the day they going to be asking for state fund placement or being late in delivery for their other order just like they did before.
AFAIK MoD asked for $20 bil total up until 2024. How much they going to be disburse yearly is up to Kemenkeu and MoD. This multiyears payment systems is rather new so I think Kemenhan and Kemenkeu will work closely together to prepare for the project funding.
The $30-$40 bil is the rumour of ceiling credit line French is willing to open for us.
The problem is operating cost. Procurement cost is easy since we can always take another loan.
1In 2020 the Oerlikon Skyshield Gun MK3 if the Oerlikon Skyshield MK2 hasn't used IFF.
The plan KASAU to purchase MK3 is 11 units of FU, maybe 3 units of FU have just arrived.
I quote the words from Indomiliter Link with Bahasa Indonesia I translate to English.
Along with the release of the Oerlikon Skyshield MK3, Rheinmetall also introduced the Skynex Air Defense system, which is of course linked to canons and radars. At IDEX 2017 which took place in Abu Dhabi last February, Rheinmetall released the X-TAR3D search radar. This modular unmanned radar system with ECCM (Electronic counter-countermeasure) capability becomes a tracking sense for the Skyshield canon, on this radar an IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) process is also carried out.
What does it mean with 11 unit FU? Is it the firing unit or the revolver gun it self? I wonder where did AU placed this Skyshield in our Lanud
Why would you even need Typhoons at this point?

Do the previous MK2 can be upgraded into MK3?
Because it's one of the best interceptor maybe. And double engine...Exactly
If Prabowo doesn't even interested in F-16V, why should he interested in Typhoon?
WaitBecause it's one of the best interceptor maybe. And double engine...
Typhoon is faster and has higher ceiling than Rafale.
Yeah..Wait
We're still talking about Austria's Tranche 1 Typhoon right?
We know how to do LCC (Life Cycle Cost) and we did it in most major purchase I assume. But deciding on which assets to get isnt base on LCC solely, sometime due to geopolitics, economic, strategic, tactical , etc we are willing to absorb the higher LCC. Most of time LCC will help foreasting the cost related to maintaining, upgrading and operating the assets for budgetary purpose.Agree. Suggest to have life cycle cost analysis & comparison consisting Capex (procurement) and Opex (operation, maintenance, upgrading, etc) for each high value and critical defense article procurement.
If we can have these, we can get clearer big picture and better decision.
Thats the 1 bil dollar question right? Why would you even need Typhoons at this point?
I think some one here (or PDF) said we won't retired Hawk yet.just my thoughts.
1. 14th Sqn will operate the Typhoons as pure interceptor
2. The Su-27Sk and 30Mk currently in the 14th Sqn will be returned to its original unit the 11th Sqn
3.F-16 will still be operated by the 3rd and 16th Sqn
4.the 36 Rafale (2 Sqn) will replace the Hawks in the 1st and 12th Sqn.

Don't forget we need to create/move one squadron to the east (NTT/Biak)I think some one here (or PDF) said we won't retired Hawk yet.
Is there a chance skadron 3 will get converted to rafale to protect Java?
maybe, but iirc the Hawks are initially going to be replaced with F-16Vs, now that we know we won't have the Vipers, am placing my bet on the Rafales.I think some one here (or PDF) said we won't retired Hawk yet.
