Any chance those ships will employ USVs?
The design is available at Dearsan's website, but since those can deploy RHIB, could also deploy a USV within the SWL of the winch. They might also equip the ship with a heavier winch to support USV operations.

In my opinion there will be another MCMW project in the following years, where we will see a larger MCMW similar to Belgian design with multiple USV and UAV operations.

This is my source and more or less, the acquisition follows with a delay and shifts between the projects. NG-MH is given to Dearsan (for the first prototype that will go through evaluation) and will follow with MKT (MCMW) vessel designed / built either by Dearsan or another.
TF-100 was never I-Class. But let's pretend it is.

You don't simply build first of the optional hulls (either for TF-2000 or I-Class) in the military shipyard. TF-100 was a whole new design in the past, likely split in two and merged to I-Class and TF-2000 projects. Navy has got a way to get 8 more hulls (+4 TF-2000 and +4 I-Class) In place of the TF-100.

Previous formation has been;
4 I-Class (+4 Optional), 4 TF-2000 (+3 Optional) + 4 TF-100, which transformed to;
8 I+Class (+Options), 8 TF-2000 (+Options).

Also notice NG MCMW and NG MHV are separate projects. Dearsan has secured the deal for one of these, for prototype construction and one another will be conceptualized by another company in cooperation with the Navy DPO.

This was the SSB's plan earlier, each first hull of the new designs are to be built in military shipyards, and follow up orders are to be built by private shipyards. All in all TF-100 was a planned new design and let go in the last year.

The table is mostly valid as of 2024.

I knew it earlier but that was in the negotiation phase. They have finalized the agreement somewhere around September. SSB was meeting with multiple shipyards back then and i preferred to remain silent.


It is 2 + 2 in fact, 2 are optional but likely to be fulfilled. It is possible that another shipyard will be assigned with remaining 4, to complete the series of 10.





And Dearsan will utilize a neighboring shipyard to fulfill the orders. They have got a tugboat and MCMW order currently.
DO we know when we can see the Navalized Gokbey?

Wait, those OPV's will not be Hisar class and will be Dearsan's design?

If that is the case, I kinda think it is a step into right direction. If you standardized the systems, logistics wise it will be okay and using the different shipyards designs will help our civil naval shipyards when they enter tenders. If this system won't work, you only end up having less than ideal OPV fleet which is tolerable. If it will work though, I think it will benefit our Navy and naval industry in the future.

Sounds confusing, I thought the Hisar OPV going to be built would be on Ada class design and it would be FFBNW types, making room for domestic hardware to be slappede on them.

If Dearsan is making them are there a chance these will be export class OPV, but are camouflaged as for own use ?

If that is the case, I kinda think it is a step into right direction. If you standardized the systems, logistics wise it will be okay and using the different shipyards designs will help our civil naval shipyards when they enter tenders. This was the goal for a decade and they are finally achieving it. Both Navy and SSB relaxed a little and not stiff as in the past.

It will be Hisar Class, but i don't know what will be left as FFBNW and what will be installed.

I just checked and they probably updated the page as it includes USVs and AUVs now, which I think is great news.

I don’t know how many of our members fluently know all these. But with age, and not being involved in some of these day in day out I personally find it difficult to follow some members’ posts.
It was asked here before from our members to write the open form of these for the benefit of us illeterates. I hope that you do that from now on if you want your articles to be fully understood by the larger number of readers.
I care for being clear but when on mobile, i tend to use abbreviations and keep it short. Actually i used to mind and provide a nomenclature prior to long posts or articles.

For some specific case (project names) i tend to use the abbreviations since those are not generalized terms but specific to countries, and in local languages and leads to an easy access on search engines acting as a keyword. Or by time those becomes a keyword and acclaimed internationally. Like how CAFRAD is not referred as MFR, but as is.

Of course a brother can't slap the MİDLAS on a submarine the way it is. We have seen that a modified K-VLS for KSS-III is good and kicking for SRBMs.

ASFAT has already put the debut of MİLDEN with VLS with a rough mini-model of ATAMCA and we know that MİDLAS will be capable of both ATMACA and GEZGİN.

But I'm certainly gonna keep defending the idea of putting a geometrically adjsuted TAYFUN for MİDLAS as the quick strike option alongside the subsonic ones (Murat İkinci said there is some plan on that a year ago and we also know that TAYFUN's length is within strike length boundaries).

Anyway, this is kinda going off topic, just included it as it was part of the news article
I reply in the appropriate thread;

My point was it won't be MIDLAS anymore, yes it can be a member of the MIDLAS family, as in "National VLS", but it is erroneous to refer it as "MIDLAS Submarine variant".
And logically we know MIDLAS will launch Gezgin from the VLS silo, not ATMACA. Atmaca has a short range, relatively, thus it will reveal location of the submarine, on the other hand Gezgin is long range and it will not pose a threat for submarine to launch Gezgin or Tactical Missiles.

Every combat capable naval vessel launched is reason for celebration. I'm looking forward to the first seatests of Hisar, and especially looking forward to how and who is going to be commanding this vessel 😀

News pieces still say it'll be equipped with Hisar and Atmaca, but in the link i've given Istanbul Shipyard commander admiral Yetkin only mentions the MKE 76mm gun and says Aselsan adds radars, comms equipment and close air defence systems. And he makes no mention of Roketsan.

IMO, The new power/propulsion system is also quite important for Turkish naval industry.

"The CODELOD propulsion system, namely the diesel-electric engine combination, was preferred in OPVs. The diesel-gas turbine engine combination CODAG was preferred in MİLGEM Corvettes.

Unlike MİLGEMs, there will be no LM-2500 gas turbine engine and mechanical transmission organs in OPVs, It is understood that power transmission will be provided by electricity generation and electric motor drive.

In this way, 2 important cost items will not be present on the ships. Unlike MİLGEMs that can reach speeds of 32 knots+, OPVs will be able to reach speeds of 24 knots like TCG Ufuk.

There are warship classes in the world that use electric propulsion systems.

Instead of mechanical transmission organs, the power is converted to electrical energy and the propellers are driven by electric motors, which saves weight,There are some important advantages such as noise and vibration reduction.

It was known that some companies such as ASELSAN and MKE were working on electric drive systems in Turkey"

When you have systems that require significant but short bursts of electrical power like catapult or electromagnetic cannon or like connecting large ships to power grid in emergency, having such a system adds flexibility. Although these ships don't have it, when we have integrated electrical propulsion experience that will be good for future. Would have wanted to see it on TF2000 but too early for that.
