130J-30 will also provide a logistic advantage that will put C27J ahead of C295
Certainly possible. To give context, C27J and C-130J have slightly different versions of the same Alison engine. But, C295 also shares its PW100 with ATRs the navy use and it is a much more readily available commercial engine, although not very known in Turkey.

Özgür maybe?
Özgür I are already contracted with deliveries being made. Too early for Özgür II, no? 85 million must be a serial production deal. We haven't even seen the prototype for Özgür II yet. But again, I don't see many other aircraft projects that would get this kind of budget only for IFF and comms equipment.

Pity, I was thinking perhaps it would be possible to get the 18 Iraqi F-16

Seems they have issues keeping them working

Per MoD Güler's latest words last week, 2 RAF Typhoons will visit Turkey on Dec 18, after joining a joint exercise in Qatar and land directly at Mürted/Akıncı.

Reading into this a bit more, I'm puzzled and this visit might be a little more unusual than the rest.

Firstly, 2 aircraft are I believe 2 RAF Typhoons from the joint RAF/Qatari joint squadron No. 12, which was reformed to train Qatari pilots and crews after their purchase in the past. I think it has deployed to Qatar at no less than 3 times since it was reformed in 2018.

Piece also adds that these aircraft will be returning from Qatar after joining the Qatari/European joint exercise "Ferocious Falcon V", which Turkey also joined. But this exercise was in 2023, not 2024. Hence my thinking these aircraft were not just there for the exercise but deployed there temporarily as part of No. 12 squadron.

2 aircraft are FGR4s per Özbek. While complicated, a FGR.Mk4 is basically a single seater Block 5 EF2000 built under Tranche 1 updated with multi-role capabilities for ground strike and recce roles unlike earlier blocks.

FGR4s are the most capable of the RAF Tranche 1s but they are also to be retired in the following few years.

Per the piece, 2 aircraft will directly come to Mürted base, to home of TAI and not Eskişehir and Konya, which are the more popular airbases for joint exercises.

I think either we might see an update on the previously dispelled claim of HvKK buying ex-RAF Typhoons, or this might be the first of many visits to start a joint RAF/TurAF squadron to train Turkish pilots and crews like how RAF did with Qataris and how we recently did with Qataris in Qatar. Or maybe even both...

Thought it was interesting.

This must be for Özgür.

Agreements regarding to the aircraft payloads including Avionics, Communication, Radar, Electronic-Warfare, Electro-Optic, Navigation and Guidance systems development and procurement have been signed between ASELSAN and TUSAŞ. Deliveries will be made in the years between 2024 and 2028. The portion of the agreements valuing USD 329.000.000,- has been activated.

Most logical thing to do is this (if US approves and agree to compensate F35 money). But it should include integration of Turkish systems and weapons to Vipers. 40 new 80 upgrade, and rest will be Ozgur (or Block 50+) and local production / assembly. If not, Eurofighter is the only candidate to fill the requirement until TFX. This deal could also secure engines for TFX and Hurjet (or include) But we all know US, even if they approve it will take years...

Defence Ministry and Airforce acting very logically recently, I am surprised to see determined steps. But we know there aren't much option unless Trump lifts CAATSA suddenly and F35 deal reinitiated.

I disagree with you on that. I know that if we acquire them for trainer then that's what we should do, but in an all out war or such, being able to turn those jets into LCA and more modern one is an asset that should not be under estimated. As it is our fighterjets are getting older and older.

TurAF will have stealth drones with indigenous engines and probably lower unit costs than Hürjet LCA. So why do you want Hürjet LCA in high numbers? IMO Hürjet LCA makes more sense with a MUM-T concept, which will be probably the reason why TurAF will buy the LCA variant at all.

Can please all members be more vigilant about what they share in the forum?
If a video already have a flag that clearly shows “altered or synthetic content” , then it contains false information.
Check to see if that news is correct or of a source that is dependable, before sharing it here.

There are rumors that Turkiye is expected to sign a contract worth 12 billion £ (14.45 billion €) for 20 Eurofighter Tranche 4+20 Eurofighter Tranche 5 (optional). Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027. There is also a separate weapons package worth 2.5 billion euros if all options of the weapons package are exercised.

40 Eurofighter Tranche 4/5+ weapons= ~17billion euros
40 F-16 block 70+weapons=~7 billions euros
