First P-72 Maritime Patrol Aircraft Delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces Under the MELTEM-3 Project

In a written statement, the Presidency of Defense Industries also shared that following the delivery of the first Maritime Patrol Aircraft, 2 additional Maritime Patrol Aircraft and 1 Utility Aircraft are also planned to be delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces in 2021. According to the information we have received, after the 2 Utility Aircraft delivered in 2013, other aircraft to be procured under the MELTEM-III program (6 in total) will be provided in the AsUW and ASW configurations. In this context, with the delivery of 1 additional Utility Aircraft, the number of aircraft delivered under the MELTEM-III program will be 9 in total, including 6 Maritime Patrol Aircraft and 3 Utility Aircraft.

It seems total number of aircrafts to be delivered were increased.

This is a very important project for us. Choice of Leonardo produced aircraft is quite good in the embargo climate currently we are experiencing.
This project will improve Turkish Navy’s capabilities greatly. With current lack of incoming modern ships, will be greatly compensated by the electronic warfare capabilities of platforms like these.

We already have 6 CN235 types and as I know we’re going to procure 3 p-72 but would we need more P-72 ? I was thinking of CN235 from Indonesia would be good if they can carry LWT

TN uses series-100M (Maritime) which is built by Spain.
I don't know if Indonesia would approach for upgrading a MPA variant with Turkish systems on (SAR -E/O etc) for Turkey. And I also don't know whether it would be more suitable to get a bigger MPA with longer endurance and payload like P-8.
And we won't need a MPA soon thanks to Aksungur, thus a bigger MPA can be suitable to operate MPA UAVs from the mothership.

I was also thinking of the advantages of cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey, if we moved to acquiring CN235 from Indonesia, we’d both gain significant experience in aviation vice verse sensors for Indonesia. Or another platform that Indonesia has for SAR-E/O etc. if we need more range and flighttime.

In comparison to P8 service ceiling is 27000 vs 45000 feet. P8 can avoid bad weather zones by climbing over them. I hope Leonardo solved finally the deicing problems which caused many fatal crashes.

Produced from advanced composite material, SİDA can be commanded from the land headquarters command center as well as mobile vehicles and floating platforms such as aircraft carriers and frigates. SİDAs, which are expected to play an active role in the execution of missions such as reconnaissance, surface warfare, asymmetric warfare, armed escort, force protection, strategic facility security, surveillance and intelligence, also include missile systems that can meet different operational needs.

SİDA, which takes action such as mixing the communication combat system of the enemy units in the electronic warfare environment, can also be equipped with communication and intelligence systems. SİDAs will also have the ability to operate with other SİDAs with a similar or different structure, and to operate jointly with UAVs and manned aircraft.

WILL BE LAUNCHED AT THE END OF THE MONTH

In addition to being a remotely controlled unmanned sea vehicle, SİDA, equipped with superior and advanced capabilities with artificial intelligence and autonomous behavior features, will launch at the end of this month. Firing tests with SIDA's Roketsan guided missiles will also be carried out in March.

Utku Alanç, General Manager of Ares Shipyard;

"It is a boat that can serve much more easily in the territorial waters problems in the Aegean, in the rocky crises that are frequently experienced, and it is very unlikely to be seen by the enemy forces called the radar signature. a boat capable of engaging guided missiles.

SİDA has a cruising range of 400 kilometers, a speed of 65 kilometers per hour, a national encrypted communication infrastructure, day and night vision capabilities.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has ordered new Turkish-made corvettes and unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAV) from Turkey. They are being procured for the Ukrainian Navy to enhance security in the Black and Azov Sea regions.

This could be the perfect oppurtunity to get experience integrating Zorya power plants on a Milgem platform. It could save us a lot of time when integrating to Istif, TF-2000 and other ships. I read in a Chinese journal that Ukrainians did not have expertise into integrating to modern ships. Chinese had to integrate the Zorya power plants themselves.

We've already developed diesel power generators for the PN Corvettes. Wouldn't it be better to integrate that instead of the Zorya, or can both be used at the same time ?
