Not defending the F35 or buying American. But its pure speculation:

Heres another German article that weighs in, that the statement is speculative and no one knows of its existence and that it might as well be BS spread to push the sale of European products. I dont have any stakes in this battle, so I'm just here to enjoy the show.

Don't all F 35s already have a kill switch since they need regular updates of code from the United States to work properly?
Who knows,i think its just a signal sent on a certain frequency to disable the control of the aircraft.
Dont think you need upgrades for that(maybe?).

According to the Canadian sites it is only possible to disable the sensor suites and some avionics, turning a marvel of a plane to a pumpkin of a plane.
But even that can be open to arguments.
Canadians have on order 88 of these planes. So rightfully they are questioning the logic of buying them from a country whose current president calling their PM a governor and their country the 51st state.

Canadian expert circles have expressed concerns about the ongoing acquisition of American F-35 fifth-generation fighters and to consider whether the government should cancel the deal. A brief reminder: Ottawa ordered 88 F-35As in 2023 for 14.5 billion (hereinafter) US dollars. The Canadian Ministry of Defense also has estimated the F-35's operational costs for a projected 45 years in service at $54 billion.

Who still believes their is no „kill switch“ system on F-35 is not naive. He is just stupid. And nothing more.

US cut off targeting systems on HIRMAS in Ukraine right now.
