I know there has been some talks, but I don't remember the sale of 90+ engines being approved by the senate/house. (notice the amount is not mentioned anywhere as I can see).

What I also remember is that around 20 engines could be bought due to amount being small and not enough to warrant senate/houses approval. When Hürjet first prototype was going to take shape/form.

I think it was because it was going to be a used for trainerjet / prototypes that is was possible to get up to 20 or so.

So unless they deliver more than 20, I am thinking that's what they will produce and not more.
Airforce wants to replace the F5 and T38 thats at least 70 aircraft if not more secondly if they only produce 20 aircraft then it wouldn't be worth the development cost. If the americans won't sell us engines for trainers than kaan will be grounded till domestic is available.
i think hürjet could be a good alternativ to other Light jet if we can make it cheap enough since we have a larger weapons portfolio than korea and italia.

I also want some hürjet, and I'm bloody certain that if they cost the same as a piece of fish we could all afford one.

My point is wants and coulds are not certain terms. and if wishes were like fish in the sea, then we'd all have a net to catch them all.

Plus I edited my post to point out that the acquisition is still pending approval. Let's see how many years it will take, or decades.

Considering a possible re-engining with the planned Baykar 20k lbf engine in about 5 years how could the Hürjet sales progress in the decade ahead.

Make that 15. To add, there's nothing to suggest yet that Baykar's 20k frankenstein will be a human rated engine.

I would stick with 5. Once the inhuman engine is made it can go to a human rated version on a fast track, it only takes like 100 engine orders to make if profitable.

Not at all, that's not how it works at all. You can't fast track a human rated engine. We see what we are going through with TS1400.

Could we see a TAI/Airbus MoU there?
Here it comes, our little baby is going international.

TS1400 carries 14 humans, Hürjet only carries one or two.

It is not that that you have to age the materials that depends on time it is only about the learning curve, if you experiment and learn quicker you can make the engine quicker. We know how quick Baykar has been in learning. If we were thinking old school TB3 would not have flown from TCG Anadolu in such a short time as some members used to claim.

So Baykar have to make it quick if they want to claim a bigger cut from Hürjet's market and other markets that maybe opening for Kızılelma too. And I believe they will.

There is a sword that US is waving above our heads called CAATSA.
This is essentially to stop other countries buying from Russia, Iran and North Korea.
These 3 countries are the basis of CAATSA. China is not among them.
Weirdly CAATSA is applied to countries that US can get its teeth in to. India apparently is exempt from it.

Any engine purchases from Russia can trigger further escalation of CAATSA. Sanctions against Türkiye.
The Klimov RD33KM with FADEC and 7% more thrust than standard one is actually a good option for Hurjet. But it is Russian.

Chinese don’t really have a 20000lbf class engine apart from WS13 which was supposed to replace Klimov RD93 on the JF17. But PAK still prefers the Russian engine.
WS19 is more powerful at 26000lbf thrust albeit with the same footprint as the WS13. It is meant for JF31 stealth plane.
In general Chinese engines have a life cycle of around quarter of the US counterparts.

Eastern engines should be our last choice of call. It would mean big changes in our overall foreign policy. Now that we are in the good books of new German government, we should seriously consider the purchase of EJ200 for Hurjet.

2032 timeline for indigenous engines is not written in stone. History of our serial production of most military equipment could mean, this time line may stretch quite a few years. So we need to be prepared.

Under the coordination of Airbus, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Spanish companies for our Supersonic Jet Training Aircraft HÜRJET.
I'm pretty sure aside from Eurofying Hürjet, this will also help us in developing the aircraft furthermore for our use. 16 Spanish companies is the given number. It's a near complete coupling of Spanish aerodefence sector to Hürjet.

But no order from the Spanish MoD just yet.

It can be supplied if Spain orders (thinking of US engine)?

How well is it likely to sell against T-50?

Doubt it will be a issue for 8 out of 10 contracts. T129 was a contender against AH-1Z in both Philippines and Nigeria, beat AH-1Z in Philippines, got an equal contract against it in Nigeria. They won't make a fuss against a NATO ally like Spain.

How well is it likely to sell against T-50?
T-50 is a proven, mature platform with decades under its belt but have failed to get traction for legacy operators. They are ahead of Hürjet in terms of development, but T-50 is not even considered yet by legacy operators like UK for example. Hürjet is a much more performative aircraft, much more modern too with its development being tailored for 5th gen training duties.

Can't comment on numbers, that's just pure guesswork, but I do think Hürjet will see more successes in NATO, becoming the trainer of choice for many. Brits for the life of them can't make a good purchase in the last 3 decades so not so certain there. If they do smarten up, Red Arrows will be flying with Hürjet in 10 years. Cooperation is there, begging to be taking.

I think, if this project comes to the fruition, it would be one of the rare intelligent moves from Europe.
Years ago , they weren't intelligent enough to back German MAKO project, hence situation is at it is
Why spend years and billions, if you can come and benefit from the project?

Spanish industry, led by Airbus, and Turkish Aerospace have signed a memorandum of understanding to identify and develop potential areas of collaboration on the ‘Advanced jet trainer aircraft, Integrated Training System - Combat (ITS-C)’ programme, which aims to replace the F-5M trainer aircraft of the
@EjercitoAire.

This collaboration would leverage Airbus' design, manufacturing, in-service support and training expertise with Turkish Aerospace's innovative design of the HÜRJET, an advanced single-engine, tandem-seat, supersonic jet trainer aircraft with advanced capabilities.

This agreement also seeks to nationalise the integrated training system and strengthen the Spanish national industry, to reinforce defence ties between Spain and Türkiye, and to meet the challenges posed by the growing operational demand for modern training aircraft.

Spain has already been supplying some components for Hürjet for some time.

I specified 400 for HÜRJET yesterday. This number does not include TURAF orders.Access to American engines will not be a problem, but production speed will be an issue on the part of TUSAS.

HÜRJET will be a master key for the entire defense industry of Turkey.

As always, I like these maps of yours, but they are simply wrong. Qatar didn't order Hürjet, neither did Spain, yet. Total order count for Hürjet still sits at 16 for HvKK.
They sure didn't, this map is provisional.

But anyone is welcome to suggest future sales prospects.

Then why do you post it in the first place I mean I could think of Katar buying hürjet as a trainer but that just gossip at the moment the only ones we know for sure are Spain and turkey only the numbers aren’t clear yet
