Right after the ceremony, TAI CEO stated in an short interview, the contract started today with this signing.
Or what do you mean in particular?
In purchasing contract, the buyer need to pay the down payment first or something, right?

At that point, the contract finally come into forces (binding) and OEM can start to produce the goods (in this case: Kaan).

I think it's still to early to talk about anything. Let's at least see the text of what was signed. It was dubbed a "purchase contract", which is interesting.

One point. In last month's MOU, it was mentioned that all 48 aircraft would be delivered within 120 months of contract signing. Does that mean that now we are in contract period and last Kaan will be delivered to Indonesia in July 2035? That's a pretty tight schedule.

Indeed. Since This is not an agreement any more but a contract, let’s wait and see what’s in that contract.

Aselsan CEO:

"WE DROPPED OVER 100 PRODUCTS AND FOCUSED ON KAAN"

In the past few years, we discontinued over 100 products that we considered to have low added value. We shifted our focus to game-changing weapons and systems. In the field of optics and imaging, we handed over rifle scopes to partner companies and turned our attention to systems for UAVs and KAAN. We aimed to achieve what couldn't be done before. Due to embargoes, we were unable to procure certain products — now, we’ve started producing them ourselves.

He says Aselflir 600 has 40% more range and double the laser designation range compared to Aselflir-500. This level of designation range provides stand-off capability against most medium-range air defense systems.

Indonesia rejected all offers and seems to have finally made its choice in favor of the Turkish KAAN fighter. I have long been watching with interest, even when Turkey was only dreaming of a 5th generation fighter, what the Indonesians would choose - Rafale, KF-21 or Su-35. When Indonesia, after many years of deliberation, completely unexpectedly chose KAAN, the Russians were shocked: "What is this KAAN?! Where did it come from?! How can this be?! How can these Indonesians prefer a fighter that does not exist?!" The thing is that Russian propagandists (who are also experts) have long been assuring their audience that the Su-35 is incomparably better than the F-35 ( ), that Turkey does not have a national aviation school (in the broad sense), that without producing previous generations of fighters it is impossible to immediately produce a fifth-generation aircraft, etc. And suddenly, a bolt from the blue: out of all these French, Korean and Russian fighters, Indonesia chose ... KAAN!
Now Russian propagandists are trying to explain this inexplicable to their flock.
It is funny that the Russian author compares KAAN not with SU-57, which is supposedly a 5th generation fighter, but with SU-35, a 4th generation fighter. This is done intentionally, as if KAAN and SU-57 are simply incomparable things!
The failure to mention SU-57 is probably also due to the fact that its production has stalled. In 15 years, only about 20 units were produced.

Remember 6 years ago Putin offered Erdogan the SU-57?!

What do Russians think about KAAN?
This is an article about him. As is usually the case with Russians, it contains a lot of half-truths, propaganda and outright falsifications. But the comments are interesting.

In addition to Indonesia, Egypt also rejected Russian fighters (Su-35). Then Russia offered Iran the same fighters (24 units). But Tehran, as the Russians themselves admit, wants Chinese J-10s.

Yes.
But if president wanted it, MoF will listen.
This deal won't happen without president(ex MoD) agreement.

So, don't be too pessimistic.
"Asal bapak senang" huh?
I hope next administration will generous enough to continue

Little bit OOT but...
Next admin... very likely still prabs right? His rating curently is not bad, unless there's some big problems very likely he will stay in office till 2035.

In 2035, based on "KAAN delivery in 10 year" something something, maybe we will receive (almost) all of the 48 KAAN.

One question, if it was an offset including stuff like palm oil would that still be the case? Turkey imports about 800 mil $ worth palm oil annually for instance, I had heard something about such an agreement
