They're necessary conflicts. If Turkey doesn't get involved in Syria and Iraq, the US/Israel will create "Kurdistan" and carve away a part of Turkey. If Turkey doesn't get involved in Libya, they will take away 80% of our continental shelf in the East Med and steal our oil/gas.

Back in the day Turkey didn't have a nationalistic voice. It was at the service of the US. It was getting involved in US-sponsored conflicts like Korean War, Cuban Missile Crisis, etc. which had nothing to do with Turkish interests. No one was calling it "unnecessary conflicts" back when Turkey was putting its neck on the line for US interests. But when Turkey sends soldiers to Libya for TURKISH INTERESTS all of a sudden it's an "unnecessary conflict". It is indeed VERY, VERY necessary.

Well Turks love war since Turkey is a regional power it has to get into these conflicts to protect its interests and national soverignty.

Yes it was, you can still those running around.

They even worked on experimental models and in 80s were aiming to lease a modern design,yet production was halted.
The pick-up model was quite lit, even 4 seat A2 - A1 could be converted to pick up

I don't really know about those, but some of places in Asia (in countries which are considered developing) still doesn't have running water, they supply house needs by ground water.

That's my dream life, actually. When I retire I will buy a few acres of land as high up on the mountains as possible far from any major towns. It won't have running water or electricity. I will put up a few solar panels and have a water well drilled to make my own water. I'll have a few chickens and bee hives to survive and maybe a Kangal too and then I will die as a grumpy old man.

Trust me any problems with regards to religion, nation you guys have are 100 times worse in Pakistan. I was in yiyr country. From what I saw you guys have no problems. Only how to live life to the full. Something even the rich countries face.

I lived like that for few weeks in my ancestral village in the mountains in Pakistan. By 3rd week I was screaming "please get me out of here". So see how it goes for you.

All in all, 90s were better than the 80's. At least there weren't any left wing-right wing massacres. But 90's had their own set of crises. I mean, who can forget Susurluk, for example?

The world was also very different. Soviets had just collapsed. Serbs were massacring muslims in Kosovo. Kids were playing the first PlayStation. US troops were waging the gulf war. Internet was just becoming mainstream. And Bill Clinton was getting his dick sucked by Monica Lewinsky.

For me, it was never shitty in Turkey as claimed by that member but situation in Kuala Lumpur was better in 90's (in comparison to Ankara) or perhaps, better globalised.

Because that might have political undertones, I'm not willing to open up that can of worms at this time my friend. Whole books can be written about that and people who live in Turkey already know what I know. But I can tell you that quality of life HAS RISEN in Turkey since the 80's. No doubt. I assume it's the case in most places around the world.

I am a book worm you have any books to suggest on Modern Turkish History (1923-present) Turkey is in a pickle right now but I think it has a chance to shine very well the road to prosperity is bumpy not a straight road

You could try "Modern Turkiye Tarihi" by Finley.
Turkey is not alone in being "in a pickle", lots of other countries are.
Even the world's sole superpower is struggling with finding its identity and inner peace. #BlackLivesMatter
Turkey will be just fine. I for one am not worried.
