So we asked for F-35 and they proposed F-15 and F-18. Then we asked for F-15EX and they proposed F-15SG (Singaporean std). Kinda disappointed reading that.

The most advanced 'reduced version" of F-15EX is probably F-15QA (Qatar std). If we can't get F-15EX we should ask for F-15QA.

Well IMO we should choose plane where we can handle maintenance by our own. As far as I know we can do that to F16 Block 52, but dont know if they will let us do that for F 15 EX. We get the most modern Apache, so there is chance we will get similar F15EX used by US Air Force.

US has offered India with USAF's full specs F-15 EX (EPAWSS included) in exchange with S-400 program cancellation. F-15 EX "Make In India" also likely.

India is part of QUAD strategic alliance tbf. But I do really hope that we'll also get F-15EX in all its glory.

Several talking points from the AH article :

1. We only have $9.3 bil for all the wishlist and only about $4 bil for fighters. If this is indeed the case it's probably why MoD has (sudden?) visit plan to Moscow to have another discussion regarding SU-35. Just speculation but interesting topic for discussion.

2. No green light from the Austrian government regarding 11 Eurofighters. Not sure about this. It's the Austrian gov who want to get rid these jets as soon as they can. It's probably the Airbus or the U.S. (as component manufacturers) who say No. Besides, if we only have $4 bil for fighters then surely all the secondhand procurement plans including this one suddenly become priority.

4 billion USD for fighter alone is too much. I doubt the number. It is 1.6 billion USD in Bappenas blue book. There is still Changbogo deal (3 submarines), Iver Hutfield (2 ships), MRTT, transport plane, radar, and so on

There's no way we aim for Rafale and F-15EX if we only have $1.6 bil.

8-12 Rafale or 8-12 F 15 EX. It is the possible deal IMO, not much different with previous SU 35 deal. It is only intended for F 5 squadron.

for me ,it still make sense if we go for Su30 than Su 35.

Taking its capability as bomb-truck also AShM capability.
Talk about bomb-truck, how about the battle proven SU-34 ? would be a closest alternative contender for F-15 EX

First of all if $9.3 bil for pinjaman luar negri can be consider high compare to before covid standard. The average was prolly around $4 bil something (before covid). Now what if that $9.3 bil was part of a bigger budget scheme which can be achieved if certain economic parameter is met so ibu SM can give a nod?

What I hear is there is this 4 year total budget scheme (that 9.3 is only around 1/4-nya) that has been proposed but under yearly review or disesuaikan dgn keuangan negara. There is this lobby and study about this thing which hasnt been settled. At first I dont believe we can afford $9.3 bil, but seems like it has been informally ok by most. If that 4 year total budget goes thru and materialized in the next 4 years then our Nation definetly transform her muscle into regional power that any other countries must reckon with. This will definetly change the region balance of power, it will be interesting to see how our neighbor react to it.

Now there is still a lobby, talk, discussion going on regarding the assets type tho MoD aim is somehow still fix on certain type. This happen due to the next years budget uncertainty (depend on certain economic parameter by kemenkeu?). They need to formulate the assets purchase and mitigate the risk if somehow the total budget collapse.

Thats what I been hearing, and the rest is my personal analyze. Perhaps @Madokafc can give us a bit of enlightment. 😁

Our neighbours will be cool about it. Neighbour such as 🇲🇾 have no problem that could potentially escalate to open hostility, more so with strong cooperation of both country in palm oil related export. However, few of their politician & public figures might make some noise, but those merely theatrical for domestic consumption. While neighbour such as 🇸🇬 will also be cool about it, since they don't see us as a threat, furthermore we do have rather strong defence related cooperation with them. However, just like 🇲🇾 few of their politician & public figures might make some noise, But again, those are intended to justify their request for more defence budget rather than viewing us as a threat. While neighbour such as 🇦🇺 need strong & stable 🇮🇩 to act as their buffer zone. Moreover, they already within security umbrella of the 🇺🇸, not to mention very capable military on its own.

Alman twits more like a Grumpy old man talking about his waist acting in the morning. That's utterly meaningless with all of the track record he had shown so far.

For a budget concern, BAPPENAS had released the blue books and had commitment toward some of MoD major projects. And Prabowo is quite a strong lobby and had decent and working relationship with Sri Mulyani, and he is not shy away to asking more from her.

This would be a repeat of massive buying just like what happened in 2010-2014 period, multi years financing package, installed payment for soft loan for a decade or more payment scheme. At the time Indonesia spent at least Ten to 12 Billion US Dollar to bought 3 CBG Submarine, Su 30 6 units, 24 used F16, Leopard 2, Caracal Helicopters, Bell 412, Super Tucano, CN235 MPA, Radar, Tarantula FSV, Cesar SPH, ASTROS MLRS, BMP3F, and so on. This time they would use unused budget slot from MEF phase 2 and commence the program of MEF phase 3, this should be government responsibilities to fulfill the program. And at the time Indonesia too just relaxed after economy shock in 2008-2009 period. But now the three percentage of state deficite of GDP caps had been released, to cope with pandemic problem.

The problem is right now China literally and actually had massed and trying to stationed themselves in North of Natuna and doing sashimi slacing strategy to push their claims more into Indonesia water bodies. Someone with some working brain would not dare to pending military spending to acquire more advance weaponry at this time.

CAATSA.....😅 if not then su 35 bmp 3 bmpt bastion mi 17 is here...right now
Latest statement from Army Aviation say they were want to get rid of Mil mi 17v5 from inventory.
Since has crash issue.

But back then, a news about some procurement of Mil mi 17 pop up at middle of 2020, dunno if its a joke.
Talk about bomb-truck, how about the battle proven SU-34 ? would be a closest alternative contender for F-15 EX

Yes, as far as i know both of'em were heavy fightter.
But why i concern more about Su 30 is it capability to use any armament Sukhoi fleet has and the maintenance and spareparts will not become an issue. Amd perhaps, less affected by CAATSA .
